Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Fans of the film version of The Lord of the Rings can now get an adventurous taste of the third and final installment in this action-packed photo guide! Chock-full of scenes from The Return of the King, this guide picks up as Gandolf (thought dead) is crusading to band all of the Free Peoples together and Pippin Took is out to steal Saruman's seeing-stone. Suspense quickly builds as Frodo makes his way toward destroying the Ring and the others are busy fighting for their lives, finishing at Mount Doom and a dramtic close-up of Frodo. Large, colorful photos mixed with narration and movie quotes make this illustrated story eye-catching and easy reading for young fans, who will be surely gasping over dramatic scenes like Frodo and Gollum's entrance into Cirith Ungol and the battle at Pelennor Fields. A showstopping addition to LOTR collections for kids.
Library Journal
The Photo Guide and Visual Companion are simply collections of screen shots with a minimum of text-very YA. The real gems here are Art of and (especially) Weapons and Warfare, true fan books that detail costumes, props, and set designs through photos and concept drawings. Gollum is a bit of a novelty for those interested in computer special effects, as actor Serkis, who provided Gollum's voice and physical movements, explains how graphics were used to create the screen character. The indie spirit A film doesn't need to be a sweeping epic featuring a cast of thousands to be good. The market for independent films is huge, so no film collection is complete without a few of these titles. Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.

Just as good as the other guides!

I enjoyed this book as much as all the others, though it needed more Arwen pictures. Very good, though the ending needed work. I suppose not to spoil the movie. I suggest buying all three at once. I enjoyed this series. Somthing everyone may enjoy, espeshely lord of the ring fans.

    A Really Beautiful Book

This book is like, so exciting: like I've said before, it's like seeing the movie all over again. 'The Lord of the Rings' is certainly a jewel among literature and the movies are the crowning glory of movie history. 'The Return of the King' is the best! I just love this book. It has soooo many color photos and it explains the story as it goes along. Enchanting! Breath-taking! Recommened for all fans!
