Editorial Reviews

Cecelia Holland
Tarr's inspired choice of heroines has given her a whole new slant on material so familiar that the names of even minor figures fall on the ears with a thousand echoes. Meriamon is a wonderful character, warm, potent, gentle, tough-minded, womanly to the roots.... The trip to Siwah was wonderful. All those demons, the malevolent earth, the sandstorm: I loved it.
Chicago Sun-Times
This is Alexander seen from a viewpoint similar to Mary Renault's in The Persian Boy--someone who joins his campaigns in mid-course. Alexander is as compelling as ever as a central figure for a novel, and Tarr has done her research and writing as well as ever.
Jean M. Auel
Tarr has portrayed, in a remarkably believable story, a rich sense of time and place. I simply could not put it down until I had turned the last page.
Marion ZImmer Bradley
This is one of the best historical fantasies of the last several years. It makes the character of Alexander the Great very much alive.
