What can I say about a book whose characters and story will stay with me forever?? Gunnar Rutledge saw his parents murdered by Baron Luther d'Bussy.......it took hij thirteen years to devise a plan of revenge....however, upon traveling to Norworth Castle to take part in the Baron's yearly tournament where he planned on killing the Baron, Gunnar had a change of heart. What happened to the murderous looking villain??? The man before him now looked old and mellow............Instead, Gunnar decided to kidnap the Baron's daughter, Raina...... What wonderful and likeable characters Gunnar and Raina are! Yes, there was plenty of conflict between them..........but she eventually understood why Gunnar wanted revenge.....through her kindness and sincerity, she saw Gunnar soften and he showed her such compassion and consideration , she couldn't help but fall in love with him! This book has everything.........passion, superb character development, a mean and calculating villain, great secondary characters (we need a sequel!), and a thundering climax!! This is one of my most favorite love stories, and over forty years of avid romance reading, that says a lot! I can't say enough good things about this book....
