All Music Guide - JT Griffith
Perry Como's The Lord's Prayer was re-released in 2000 on CD after enjoying many successful years on LP and other formats. Como is known for his breezy pop stylings and middle-of-the-road pop, but his take on these inspirational songs is stunning and bold. His "Ave Maria," with the males voices of the Robert Shaw Chorale, is a one of the standout tracks. The Lord's Prayer is lushly orchestrated and bombastic, as if fitting of much of this material. Not a holiday appropriate album, but good for those who like gospel or inspirational music. As this is not a secular record, this may not be the Perry Como album to start with.
