Is you want to know the science behind the material

This is one of the best technical references I've found that is still aimed at a general audience as well as the sports professional. The authors background as an MD, ultra runner, and Medical advisor to the IOC give more than a little crdience to the material he presents in the book. I've been having problems with dehydration in recent years and while the book didn't have firm answers to my issues there was a lot of good information including both historical thinking in the past and current, sometimes material on the subject. This is one running book that will stay in a place easy to pull down to reiview and not get backed away in some box.

If you are seeing your GP for some running related issue and they are open to you doing your own research, mine is, this book just might help keep you and them on the right track to resolving some issues you might be having.

It's not the book for a new runner, at least not unless they want to know the science behing the sports physology of running but a valued reference for those who have been running and have had issues of one kind or another and have been searching for answers.

When I told two running friends about the book one a 9 time Leadville runner and the other a nutrionish about the book they booth said the had one of the earlier editions and keep it handy reference frequently.

    Best Runners Book Ever...

I have read a ton of books on running and this is the most complete book on running I have ever read. It even helped me fix an ankle problem I have had for years now. This is a must have for runners and multi-sport athletes that run on a regular basis or are just beginning. It covers nearly all aspects of the sport very well.
