Trees are hanging from the sky, their roots are snakes, or sometimes rivers, their leaves are fish. Are those roots entwined in clouds or stars? Our hero's mother warns him about nightmares, but he doesn't mind because he loves these trees. Even so, it's a good thing his bed is close to the ground because he is a little bit scared of heights and, when his dream knocks him out of bed, he doesn't have far to fall.

Criticas
Gr 3-5-In this soothing and imaginative bedtime story, a boy explains that trees hang from the sky, held in place by snake roots that coil around clouds and stars. The narrator is lifted from his bed as he dreams of floating about, and the illustrations show the playful snakes grasping clouds or stars, flying saucers, and the boy himself. His mother warns him not to give himself nightmares, but the child scoffs and tells readers that he likes his dreams as they are and does not worry about them. Finally, though, he decides he does not always like heights, and takes comfort in the fact that his bed rests on solid ground. The simple and gently told story uses easy vocabulary. The pleasantly rendered soft watercolor art shows a fanciful use of childhood objects, such as Legos and toy trucks. The boy's bedroom is both a safe enclosure and an outlet for his fanciful wanderings, as the ceiling opens to become the tree-filled sky and closes when he is ready to drift off to sleep. Overall, this sweet bedtime story is a fine addition to any library or bookstore.
