Brothers Juan and Fernando Leó n y Castillo dedicated their careers to improving the lives of all Canary Islanders. Juan was an important engineer and Fernando an accomplished politician. These pages tell their story and that of one of their great joint projects: the Port of La Luz and Las Palmas. The project took them many years of work and effort, but it would connect the Canary Islands with the world and would represent a giant step in the development of the Islands.

About the Author

Josefa Aurora Rodrí guez Silvera(Agü imes, Gran Canaria, 1946), known as Pepa Aurora, is a Canarian teacher, writer, narrator, storyteller and poet who focuses her work on children's literature. She graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Seville, specializing in Printmaking and Design. She had her first experience as a professional illustrator before finishing her degree and later moved to Barcelona, where she worked as a graphic designer in an advertising company, and as a layout artist and illustrator in a small publishing house.
