About the Author

Víctor Hugo started his literary career in 1822 with his first poetic work: Odes and various poems. From very early on he also had an active presence on the French political scene. Writer, poet and playwright, Víctor Hugo is one of the great authors of all time and a clear example of the romantic style of the 19th century.
