Great basis for weight loss. She is one smart lady! No fad diets and its worked for her for many many years! Eat right - we all know how, just choose not to! Never deny yourself anything either! Way to go!

This is the method I used to lose about 50 lbs., with 1 exception. When I cooked a recipe from a healthy cookbook, I portioned out my serving size. At first I wanted more than a serving size, so I didn't deny myself but gradually worked my way down to a normal size. Now a serving size satisfies me. Good book with really good info on how to shop--who knew some of those things that can sabotage getting healthy. Really good info.

For sixteen years I have suffered from severe aggressive rheumatoid arthritis and severe fibromyalgia, plus multiple heart conditions. Recently I mentioned to my doctors and my SO that I had noticed an increase in "flares" after consuming certain types of food. Everyone expressed serious doubts as to food being an aggravating factor. Then I read this book, and am now convinced. And have made serious changes in food consumption. So heartfelt thanks to you for sharing! Kitt :)

With the exception of including grains and legumes, Tammy has almost exactly described the Paleo/Primal way of eating. Her 4-wall approach to shopping and emphasis on non-processed, real foods sounds so familiar! My husband and I started following a modified Paleo/Primal diet two years ago and each managed to lose 30-40% of our weight. We kept it off for about a year. Then several hard blows from life hit all at once (loss of job, vehicle trouble, sick child...+++) - we fell 'off the wagon' and need to climb back on. We've gone back to feeling (and looking :p) sluggish... I'm gonna have him read this while I start clearing the cupboards and fridge again to make way for the real stuff!

I like this writer...love her good old fashioned common 'horse' sense (as my mother used to say).

This is exactly the eating plan I followed most of my adult life. It works! I still enjoyed naughty food once in a while too! Mostly, they taste bad now.
