Emi Lost & Found series - Winner of the Best Happily Ever After of 2013 - HEA Bookshelf

“There was true depth to the story and the characters that moved me and emotionally gutted me. I was so taken by Nate and Emi’s love for each other. It’s the kind of love that few have and many desire but never get to experience.” - Megan, Reading Books Like a Boss

Independent and sensitive, idealistic and hopeful, Emi Hennigan lives her life with optimism and an open mind. Between sharing a tiny Manhattan apartment with her fun-loving roommate and spending most of her free time with her heart-breaker friend, Emi’s seen enough failed relationships to know what to avoid in her quest to find her true love. Not only that, but a single moment from her past lingers in her mind, setting high expectations for every man she dates.

Emi’s best friend, artist and hopeless romantic Nate Wilson, has been her closest companion all of their adult lives. After swearing off love with Emi in a silly high school pact, Nate has been seeing other women in hopes of finding one that evokes stronger feelings than the ones he’s been harboring for Emi since he was a teen. Over the span of a year, boundaries are crossed, feelings are confessed, and their unique friendship begins to blossom into something more.

Through Nate’s eyes, an atypical romance unfolds, disrupting the comfortable safe haven their friendship has provided. With a promising future ahead of them both, fate intervenes to bring two soul mates together.

Meet the Author

After an exhilarating, collaborative writing project, Lori L. Otto had an idea for an original novel. The characters and their rich stories would keep her awake at night, and even with barely any sleep, she felt more alert and alive than she had in years. Her days off were spent in cafés, sandwich shops and bookstores, feverishly trying to get all of the details out of her head and onto paper.

I loved the book as soon I started and could not wait to read the rest. It was an emotional roller coaster and if anyone has ever had feelings for their best friend, you will know what I mean. I could not wait to read the next part -- thank you to Lori for writing an amazing book.

    Very good book

I didn't want to put this book down at all. This book is about two friends that fall in love with each other and have the greatest love anyone could ever experience. This book is for adults only as there is great sexual content. I can't wait to read the other books in this series and the other books by this author.

I left a review for the combination of Lori Otto's three Emi books combined, but this book was exceptional for many reasons.  You will experience every emotion possible as you are taken on Emi's journey- love, despair, sorrow, heartache, joy and empathy as you see her struggle with second guessing her heart's desires.  You do not want want to miss this- I promise!!!

I really love this book and I love Emi and Nate. I really enjoyed this book, but I am at a cross road as to get the other books. Only because of how this ended. I fell in love with Emi and Nate that I don't want to read what has happened or what is going to happen. I did have a hard time putting this book down and I didn't want it to end. I still don't. :)

I totally enjoyed this book. The characters are so relatable. Emi and Nate's friendship is incredible along with their journey. The end of the book made my heart stop and I immediately got book 2. The writing is excellent!

I couldn't put this book down. There was something about the writing that just kept me enthralled. Somewhere I saw a prequel, but I am unable to find it anywhere.

    Not my cup of tea

Its was okay... perhaps if you're in you 20's you'll find it enjoyable. Too much doubting and whining, just became repetative. Have zero interest in reading the remainder of the series.

    more from this reviewer

Now that I've read the first book, I think it was a perfect idea

Now that I've read the first book, I think it was a perfect idea to read the prequel (review available on my blog; the prequel is free, by the way!) first. In fact, if you're thinking about starting this series, I have a few suggestions. One, stay away from all reviews that have spoilers! This should be a given, but I feel like it's especially important for this series! Big things happen in this book and I certainly don't want them to be ruined for you. Two, don't read the blurbs for the other books beforehand! You know what, actually stay away from the blurbs period until you're completely done with this series. I made, what I consider, a mistake by reading the blurb for the second book whenever I finished this one and it kind of spoiled something for me. Third, read the prequel before the first book. I know it can be read before or after, but I think it fits best before. It not only gives you some history to Emi and Nate, but it sheds some light on why they do the things they do in this book. Okay, those are my three suggestions for starting this series. Onward to the review!

Lost and Found is told from Nate's point of view. Through his eyes, we see just how special Emi is to him. He struggles with his feelings and his doubt that he could ever be worthy of her. Throughout the book, he makes some rather poor choices, but everything he does brings him closer to the woman he loves. (It's funny how life works out.) I fell in love with Nate. He's a wonderful, loving, and romantic guy... even with all of his flaws.

As for Emi, the woman of his dreams, I had very mixed feelings towards her through the majority of the book. I was frustrated, annoyed, sad, and even understanding. I can't count the number of times I wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up (I'll be honest, there were a few times I wanted to do this with Nate as well). However, by the end of the book, I had fallen in love with her, too. I believe she grew up and became more confident and secure with her friendship turned relationship with Nate.

Lost and Found ends on a giant cliffhanger. It's pretty clear what has happened, though. I hardly knew that one single word could crush all the hope that I had built up for two people the way the last word of this book did. I am both eager and worried to start the next book. For everyone else, start the prequel and enjoy the series that is Emi Lost and Found.

    :(

I really don't know how to rate this book. 2 or 2.5 stars. I had a really hard time connecting with Nate and Emi. They were both very immature to be almost 30 yrs old. There were a few good parts, but I found myself skimming through the pages just to get through with. I don't think I will be reading the rest of the series.

    Frustrating

I found this book frustrating. The two main charaacters are such emotionall cripples, eventually through more pages than it should have taken, they finally come together. So much wasted time, so much wasted non verbal emotions. I found Nate really immature at times. He changed women as often as his clothes. Emi deals with her own family demons that causes her to relegate her true feelings to the back burner. Don't know if I'll read the rest of the series since the ending of this book made mme want to bang myhead against a wall!!!

    Didn't like it.

I started reading this book and didn't like it well enough to go very far in it. Perhaps if I got past the beginning I'd like it.

If you like happy endings this is not for you!

I hate that when one as a reader gets emotionalky vested in characters and a happy or not even a cliffhanger happens. So no, i am investing my time and money in continuing the series. Only reason i kept reading was Nate and he was taken out of tge equation.
