Just finished reading this Book, and I have to say, what a profoundly moving story.
This man's journey was epic. I was so gripped by the twists and turns, the travel and the intrigue! I wouldn't normally be interested in a book about a guy joining the French foreign legion, but this is more than a story about the military. There are some really beautiful descriptions of places in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, and some characters with truly fascinating stories.
This book touches on themes of love, loss, redemption and hope. The sex in the book? Okay, it does get a little "graphic" at times, like when Sebastian and Carole have sex in the Tent in the south of France. Some of the violence is a little blood curdling also but on the whole, this story affected me deeply.
If you are going on vacation or a long trip, this book is definately a must read!
