Overview

In this thrilling introduction to her Renegade Royals series, Vanessa Kelly transports readers to the court of King George III—where a London street urchin unwittingly plays Cupid, ushering in a new era—and ultimately a new kind of royal. . .

With her widowed mother working long hours as governess to the royal children, Linnet St. Clare must look after her siblings and run the household. Now she must add to her worries the fate of Dominic, a poor orphan who has inspired the wrath of the king himself. Clearly Linnet has no time to consider her own desires—much less notice the attentions of a certain handsome, powerful magistrate. . ..

Sir Anthony Tait is at a loss for how to capture Linnet's interest. If only she would be still long enough for courting. Outright seduction seems the only answer. But will his kisses be enough to persuade her—or might Anthony have something to learn from young Dominic about matters of the heart? And in saving the boy's future, might Anthony and Linnet at last create their own?. . .

The character development was rushed, as is to be expected. With that in mind, I award it four stars. The premise was oddly refreshing as it focused on those people who operate at the margins of the monarchy, walking a fine line betwen familiarity with the royals and offense.

For the rest of the books one would have to buy. I am not convinced I wanna buy. Well written, good luck to the author. I dunno how well these books functions as baits to sell subsequent books but if anything, she does write well and deserves it. O AND WHAT'S WITH ALL THESE CRAZY REVIESA

As I posted earlier I don't enjoy historical romance novel that take place around 1786 but I loved Vanessa Kelly's 1st book in the Renegade Royal series. Linnet is such a MOM but in a good way. Anthony was the royals 24/7 for 365 days. It's a miracle he did drop dead before Linnet could overtake his stressful life. I really loved Dominic and Chloe and can't wait for their story. Griffin's book is next and I already love him!! I give this book 5 fingers up and 8 toes.

LOST IN A ROYAL KISS by Vanessa Kelly is an exciting Historical Romance set in 1816 London. A novella. Prelude to "The Renegade Royals" and what a prelude. Ms. Kelly transports her readers to a time of ballrooms, royal courts with a few twists and turns. A quick, fast paced read. In "Lost in a Royal Kiss" we find Linnet St. Clare and Sir Anthony Tait at a loss on how to save a young boy's future. Young Dominic, is an orphan, raised with the royal children and is about to make a horrid mistake. Sir Anthony has the King's ear, and a powerful magistrate,so Linnet turns to him for help. Sir Anthony is clearly attracted to Linnet, but can he convince her to have a life of her own and stop worrying over everyone else's? You see her mother is governess to the royal children, which leaves Linnet to take care of her siblings. Matters of the heart is clearly the only way for Sir Anthony to gain Linnet's hand and heart. Together, they must save young Dominic from himself and making a horrid mistake, one which he will pay for the rest of his life. A great beginning to the Royal Renegade series. I can hardly wait to see what these young troublesome Princes have in store for us when they are all grown up. Ms. Kelly is a wonderful author who writes from the heart and with finesse. With engaging characters and an interesting storyline, what's not to enjoy. You never can tell where Cupid's arrow will land. A must read! This story is only 88 pages, but is packed full of enjoyment. Received for an honest review from the author and Net Galley. As usual, I'll put my disclaimer: I'm a chapter-mate of Ms. Kelly's at the First Coast Romance Writer's RWA chapter. That did not influence my rating at all. I read this novella in two pieces. It didn't catch my interest initially, but I did go back to it. I didn't realize, until I turned the last page, that this was a novella, so the ending really caught me by surprise. Because of that, though I hesitate to say this in some ways, I feel like the ending was sort of rushed. There was no real emotional build-up (at least for me) as Anthony and Linnet found their way to each other. I was very interested in the Chloe/Dominic story line, which now I understand is a common thread throughout the first few books of the Renegade Royals series. I had to feel pretty sorry for the two young ones. Anthony - I genuinely liked him. Solid and serious, he knew what he wanted (Linnet) and was incredibly patient when it came to getting it. Linnet - not the strongest female I'd ever seen, but I liked her devotion to her family and desire to not come across as selfish. I did, toward the end, feel she was being a bit martyrish about the mother working in the court thing, buuuut it resolved itself. Kudos to Anthony for coming up with the solution. These two made a pleasant pair and I adore the fact that Ms. Kelly chose a non-Regency period to write about. I'm quite looking forward to the rest of the series, despite my meh-ish feeling toward this book. I think most of that comes out of the fact that I was stunned at the ending coming so fast. I literally paged through the book a second time, trying to figure out if something had been deleted from to the book. Ah well. Thanks, Ms. Kelly, for the introduction to another fabulous series!
