A FRIGHTENING MISCALCULATION SENDS MAX MCCRANE AND HIS FRIENDS, ALLIE, GRADY, AND TOBY, ROCKETING INTO SPACE AT 90,000 MILES AN HOUR! DESTINATION: MARS!
When the battered old Volkswagen called Timebender lands them on Mars, they find not merely a dead world of craters and red sands, but a planet of mystery. Arriving in a region called Cydonia, the voyagers encounter the weird, Sphinx-like Face on Mars.
Who built the Face? Was it the strange golden-eyed, blue-skinned creatures known as Timelings, the guardians of the solar system? And what is the eerie connection between the Face on Mars and the evil and frightening Silver Dragon?
In this fourth high-velocity installment of the Timebender saga, the pug-faced bully Toby Brubaker is at it again—causing more trouble than ever before. His tampering with Timebender threatens the lives of his fellow voyagers—but a terrifying glimpse of his own future forces him to make a choice that will alter his future forever.
And Allie, feeling angry and hurt by her parents’ divorce, is confronted with a fateful decision. Will she yield to temptation? Will she seize the frightening power to control the people she loves? Her decision will shock you.
Meanwhile, Max and Grady are led by the Timelings back to the moment of Creation. They witness sights no other human beings have ever seen—and they discover the astonishing reason why the Universe exists.
Buckle up for the greatest thrill-ride of all eternity! Suspenseful, action-packed, mystifying, heart-warming—from beginning to end, "Lost in Cydonia" will send you hurtling farther into space and deeper into time than you’ve ever gone before!

His video games are all but forgotten.”
Jim Denney is a professional writer with more than 90 published books to his credit. He's been a science fiction fan almost all his life. "I was four or five," he recalls, "when I got hooked on a Saturday morning TV show called Space Patrol—about space cops rocketing from planet to planet, fighting villains and saving the galaxy.
"In the third grade I discovered A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. I was wowed by ideas like four-dimensional tesseracts and characters like Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Which. I loved the theme: 'God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise,' A lot of great fantasy is based on that theme, from The Lord of the Rings to Narnia to—ahem!—my Timebenders series."
Jim's writing career has introduced him to many fascinating people. "I'm a big Star Trek fan," he says, "so one of the great joys of my career was working with actress Grace Lee Whitney on her autobiography The Longest Trek. I've also written books with supermodel Kim Alexis, Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams, and two Super Bowl champions, quarterback Bob Griese and 'The Minister of Defense,' Reggie White.
Jim is a big kid at heart. "That's the key to writing for young readers," he says. "Stay young, have fun, never stop wondering. I enjoy poking around tidepools, going to the zoo, and yelling my lungs out on roller coasters. I've always wanted to go to Mars—someday, who knows?
"I wrote the Timebenders series to give young readers the same thrills I got from A Wrinkle in Time. I think of Battle before Time and its sequels as a thrill ride through time and space. Sure, there are deeper themes—courage and loyalty, faith and hope—but above all, I want the reader to enjoy the trip."
Jim is a member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He has also written science fiction short stories for various publications, and has several brand-new Timebenders tales already on the drawing board.
