Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
In this second book in the "Weird Planet" series, the three friendly aliens from planet Loog are back. The spacecraft that crashed in the Nevada desert sand dunes needs repairing before they can travel home, and the only person up to the task is Jo-Jo. All they wanted was extra credit for their science report, but the three end up in Las Vegas, completely perplexed by the drive-through wedding chapel and the Eiffel Tower. Even though they think slot machines are trashcans where humans put the money they no longer need, they manage to morph themselves into humans and win big, much to the distress of the casino management. Ploo, the beautiful little alien girl with a single antenna growing out of her head, gets stuck in a tiger's cage and only escapes when booger boy (a real human) helps her. One rollicking adventure follows the next as the search for Jo-Jo continues. The story ends in Jo-Jo's garage with the evil Marcel hiding in a corner. No doubt there is more to come in the next book of this series. A "Stepping Stone" book, this one will appeal to new readers looking for a funny story with a twist. Lots of action and just enough easy-to-translate alien language make Greenburg's book easy to recommend. 2006, Random House, Ages 6 to 9.
