England, 1815

The eldest of three sisters, Lady Alexandra Chase has always done what was expected of her. But when the man she's loved since her girlhood returns from a long spell abroad, she quite suddenly finds herself hoping the fine lord her brother has picked for her won't propose. She decides that if he does, she'll quite improperly turn him down—that is, until the man of her hopes and dreams informs her he has no intention of marrying her.

The last time Tristan Nesbitt saw Alexandra, he was a common man with no hope of ever wedding the daughter of a marquess. Seven years later, he's now Lord Hawkridge, which should make him eminently suitable for the woman who long ago captured his heart. But a dreadful scandal has tarnished his name in England—a scandal so horrid that marrying Alexandra would ruin not only her flawless reputation but her whole family. For Alexandra's own good, he must fight his relentless desires and stay far away…

Meet the Author

I decided to become a writer in the third grade (or, as my Canadian friends call it, grade three), after winning a "Why My Mother is the Greatest" essay contest and having my entry published in a major newspaper. Seeing my words in print was a thrill! But everyone told me it's too hard for novelists to get published, so after college I spent fourteen years as the CEO of my own jewelry store chain before writing my first book. A mistake? Maybe...but my first heroine, Amethyst, was a jeweler, so at least I took advantage of that wise old saying, "Write what you know." And I learned a good lesson: Don't let other people tell you what you can or can't do!

I write humorous historical romance mostly set in England and Scotland in the 17th and 19th centuries (Restoration and Regency periods). I've been oh-so-lucky to see my books hit bestseller lists all over the world, including the New York Times and USA Today lists, and win awards including the Golden Quill and Booklist's Top 10 Romance of the Year, making this second career a real dream come true. I live in Southern California with my husband, our three young adult children, and one constantly shedding cat, and I still think my mother is the greatest!

A WONDERFUL STORY! I love how Ms. Royal writings just pull you

A WONDERFUL STORY! I love how Ms. Royal writings just pull you into the story. My heart ached for this couple at times, and also I got great joy out of their journey. I thought I had the person responsible for the "accidents" figured out, but SURPRISE, I was wrong. I couldn't read fast enough to find out who the villain really was. I loved not only our main character's, but Alexandra's siblings were very entertaining. This is a great story, and I bought the bundle, which I would highly encourage, not only because it is better for your pocketbook, but you will want to know what is happening with the rest of the family. Fantastic!!!

Loved the characters! Ms. Royal has a wonderful way of describing a scene or a home. It just makes it seem so much better to feel as if you could go there. The story line is a good one, with twists here and there. I got so involved I was rooting for more than one couple. And praying at the same time they wouldn't find out anything bad.
Wonderful slightly naughty romance, but what good romance isn't at least a little bit naughty.
Highly recommend all of her books!

    Sweet Story

I really enjoyed this book. I love story's that grow relationships. The characters in this book have a history. Their feelings are undeniable and Alexandra fights for what she believes. She has faith in Tristan and proves it to him. Have bought the next two books in the series.

A Wonderful Book, An Addicting Read

Such a wonderful novel! This was my first by Lauren Royal and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found in it. The characters are realistic and written incredibly well. I was drawn into the story from the first page, upon reading Alexandra and Tristan's first documented interaction, and could not put it down until I reached the final page. It was such a lovely book, bringing me to tears at multiple points due to how invested I had become in the characters' plights.

I have become addicted to this series; I'm off to read the second in the series. I highly recommend this to fans of historical romance as it is one of the best works in this genre that I have ever read.

    Nothing Tempting Here...

I unfortunately just got done reading this novel by Lauren Royal ¿ Lost in Temptation. As my heading notes¿nothing tempting here. I was very disappointed in this book and was hoping for much better. I am a big fan of historical romances but, this one was a major let down. The main character Alexandra was a bore! She and her two sisters were empty, silly gals who seemed to only care about cooking deserts, playing house, planning balls and changing their clothes all day long. She was a dull, uninspiring and boring heroine I¿m sad to say. The hero Tristan was not bad ¿ good looking and climbing his way up in the world by working hard but, he too wasn¿t a go get-em, assertive, take it like it is king of guy. He was a bit dull and wishy washy too. He didn¿t even stand up to the world when accused of killing his uncle ¿ what guy goes into hiding instead of clearing his name??? Their love story was not believable either. The author noted in the early parts of the book that Tristan moved away to work his uncle¿s plantation in Jamaica and he thought about the two lost loves he had ¿ both women whom he wanted but, didn¿t want him (not enough money, power or title to hold them). Yet¿he supposedly carried this long term infatuation for Alexandra even when little. This didn¿t make sense¿he carried a torch for her now and then yet, he had other desirable women he had been with and wanted to marry? This never seemed to make sense in the book. In turn, Alex supposedly loved him forever yet never fought for him or really acted on her hearts desire ¿ she did what society told her to. When Alex saw him she wanted him and when he was gone¿he was pretty much forgotten when she got busy elsewhere. This was strange. For such passion to matter ¿ it needed to burn and grow ¿ this didn¿t. They didn¿t even really get together until he was sleep walking, that¿s when they got intimate - for Pete¿s sake¿they can¿t even hook up without him or her being in a dream world. This story line, characters and final plot simply didn¿t work for me. I skipped through the last ¼ of the book as I was bored by it all. This relationship wasn¿t a winner. I am pressed to even give it two stars. I think the author has talent ¿ this story line simply didn¿t work as a solid and memorable love story.

    A wonderful Regency romance

They first met when Alexandra was eight years old when her brother brought him home from school. Over the next seven years, Griffin Chase came home with his friend Tristan Nesbitt to the delight of Alexandra. When she turned fifteen, Tristan informed her that his Uncle Harold is sending him to Jamaica to oversee the property he owns there. Alexandra is heartbroken as she knows he is the man she loves, but being perfectly behaved, too young and treated as Tristan¿s younger sibling she says nothing....................... In 1815 Tristan returns to England as a Marquess where Griffin asks for help to revive the family vineyards as he has done with his own. Alexandra, who never made a match during her seasons due to family deaths, realizes her teenage puppy love remains fully intact as an adult. However, Tristan has no plans to marry anyone; Griffin has selected Lord Shelton for his sister; and Alexandra remains a compliant model of behavior. The paragon concludes that she must break the codes of ethics to gain Tristan¿s attention as a husband and lover not a brother, but he insists never his bride though she has owned his heart when he was just a Mr.................. LORD TEMPTATION is a wonderful Regency romance starring two likable lead protagonists whose love for one another has been kept secret until the second time around. Griffin wants Alexandra as his wife, but when she was too young he was too common and now that he has a title his scandal makes him unsuitable for her. Though typical of the sub-genre, fans will enjoy Alexandra¿s chase after the man she loves.............. Harriet Klausner

    Wonderful

I enjoyed this book immensely. Loved the characters. Found myself skipping over unnecessary descriptions, but only to get to the story faster. Not everyone cares what color the walls are or the curtains in a room unless it is intricate to the storyline. Other than that this was a fantastic story. I have purchase book 2 and 3. I'm not finding the same excitement in #2 yet. I can always hope.
