Overview

Four travelers meet in Bolivia and set off into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, but what begins as a dream adventure quickly deteriorates into a dangerous nightmare, and after weeks of wandering in the dense undergrowth, the four backpackers split up into two groups. But when a terrible rafting accident separates him from his partner, Yossi is forced to survive for weeks alone against one of the wildest backdrops on the planet. Stranded without a knife, map, or survival training, he must improvise shelter and forage for wild fruit to survive. As his feet begin to rot during raging storms, as he loses all sense of direction, and as he begins to lose all hope, he wonders whether he will make it out of the jungle alive.

Lost in the Jungle is the story of friendship and the teachings of nature, and a terrifying true account that you won’t be able to put down.

    Amazing book

I am an avid reader of survival stories (Brian's Saga, My Side of the Mountain etc.) and I highly recommend this story. The fact that this is true further exemplifies the connection between the author and the reader. It is a very gripping and intense experience.

    Jungleclan

What is wrong with you. People want to read book reviews, not some diatribe about a tribe...OR a clan. Reported to the authorities at the B and N. Now go look for a job or persue a goal.

    JUNGLECLAN

Rainingstar pads to Highrock and clears his throat
" UNNHUM" "Do not mind the other clan that is here. It was the old Jungleclan. We are newer and better."
He pads off to his den

    Hard to Believe!

This book is fascinating in the way Yossi ended up alone in the jungle and had to find his own way. Definitely not for the faint of heart! It shows what we can do if we have to.

    Back to The Forest: prologue

In a small town lived a few families. They were a close-nit neighboorhood, where everyone knew everyone else. They all had pets, some had dogs, some had cats, some had parots or ferrets, and a few had mice and rats and hamsters and gerbils as well. About 300 miles from this country town was an egg farm. If you went to the nearest city, there was a zoo. A few blocks away from that zoo was the humane center, and on the block to its left was an apartment where each person could own a cat, but no dogs were allowed. If you went three miles east you would find a small pet shop full of all kinds of lizards and snakes, and there was also a pen of newborn puppies. If you went back to the country town and forty miles west, you would find a cattle ranch which included not only cattle, but two farm dogs and a horse. They also had a group of eleven pigs and two goats.
Why are you being told all this? Well, you may find it will come in handy.
Now, back to that country town. In one house, the family, the Curros, were moving out. They would take everything; except their yellow and green parot, Rossie.
Mr. Curro hung Rossie's cage up, but, he was surprisingly forgetful. Mrs. Curro called him. "Johni," she said, "have you got everything?"
"Yes dear," he said, "I'm coming." And they drove off, leaving poor Rossie in his cage.
(I know it's not much, but it's gonna be a lot different than most of the stories you've read!)

Very interesring. Enjoyed it a lot. A tribute to the spirit and determination of man --and to their stupidity of setting off on a journey with a smooth-talking stranger with no real equipment or maps or even a clue of the enormous inhospidtality of a wild jungle.

    Awesome!

This is one of my top ten favorite books. The writing is not the best, but that doesnt matter with such a good story.
