Overview

Hadley Carter is America's Pop Princess. A successful recording artist living her dream with a sold-out tour and a handful of Grammy's there isn't much that she wants for, except love. But finding love on the road is near impossible when all she longs for are romantic dinners, a nighttime stroll on the beach and holding hands with someone who isn't going to exploit her.

Ryan Stone is a less than average teenager. He doesn't have fancy clothes. He doesn't carry around the latest smartphone and he definitely doesn't have an MP3 player. Instead, he goes to school, does his chores and dreams of a new life away from Brookfield where he's expected to follow in his blue collar family's footsteps.

When a chance encounter introduces Ryan to Hadley, will he be like her adoring fans looking for a way in, or will it be Hadley who pursues Ryan even though it might cost her the only career she's known.

Lost in You is a story about following your dreams, taking risks and getting lost in love.

Disappointed! I read the book Forever My Girl and was really excited for this book. The writing was nothing like Forever My Girl. I had to fight to get through to the end. The middle of the book just kept repeating itself. Ryan was mad and Hadley kept crying. Nothing else seemed to happen. Then all of a sudden it's four years later and they get 1 chapter to forgive and forget and get back together. I was going to read the sequel to Forever My Girl but after reading this book I don't think I will.

I really really loved this book. I was hooked from the start and it was very hard to put down. I started at lunch time and then finished the book later that evening. What I really loved was the role reversal. Usually it is the girl or woman who is in awe of the star and all the pain she goes through so it was refreshing to see it happening with a guy. I fell in love with Ryan right from the start and in places you just wanted to hug and comfort him. She writes such wonderful characters. They are real not fake.  For me I need to laugh, cry and yell to really enjoy a book. I did all of these in this book. I felt like I was there. I will definitely read many more by Heidi.

Lost in You was my first book by Heidi McLaughlin and its sweet story, loveable characters and abundance of emotional turmoil definitely won me over quickly. Hadley and Ryan’s story is the epitome of people from opposite walks of life colliding head on. Hadley’s celebrity status and the different stages of life these characters are in, provide the perfect twist to this already complicated storyline. Ryan was unexpected. Heidi created Ryan to be an inexperienced, small town, seventeen year old boy that exuded innocence and insecurity. Everything about him was true to his nature. Heidi brought this character to life through his nervous dialogue, confused thoughts and total hesitancy to act. I enjoyed watching the growth of this character over the course of the story. His emotional evolution was raw and gritty, and by the time the book was finished, I had definitely fallen hard for Ryan. Together, Hadley and Ryan are the perfect combination of lust and heartbreak. Heidi forged a connection between Hadley and Ryan that is absolutely electric. The pull they have towards one another is completely tangible throughout this story, encouraging me to devote myself to their relationship from the very beginning.  Lost in You had me riding the ups and downs of Hadley and Ryan’s journey right there with them. Heidi knows how to keep her readers guessing. Just when I thought I knew how things were going to turn out, another unexpected surprise would divert their journey. The secondary characters really brought a sense of completeness to this story, allowing us to see different sides to the main characters through their various relationships. Lost in You is exciting, surprising and equal parts gut wrenching and heart warming. I hope this isn’t the end of these wonderful characters.

The whole plot is very forced and doesnt seem to move very smoothly. Then at the end they onlyy have 2 chapters to get back together and 4 years passes in not even 1 chapter.

The entire plot feels forced and awkward. The story crawls along and feels like it was written by a high school student as a creative writing assignment where certain motifs were required by the teacher. At others times it jumps from idea to idea at a very reads pace. I wasn't impressed.
