Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Turning his attention away from bugs, David Carter and his wife, Noelle, launch a pop-up series with a counting book that introduces an eclectic cast of specialized robots that sport antennae, springs, wheels, pincers, and other handy apparatuses. Using a question-and-answer format to count up to 10, the book asks energetic, reader-directed questions like “Who makes you happy when you are sad?” with the answers appearing in verse (in this case, lifting a red curtain reveals “3 Giggle Jiggle Wiggle Bots will soon make you glad”). Carter’s quirky robots—that do everything from provide kisses and brush teeth to search for undersea treasure—should have effortless appeal for the preschool audience. Agent: JNJ Agency. Ages 3–up. Publishers Weekly, November 14, 2011:
"Carter’s quirky robots—that do everything from provide kisses and brush teeth to search for undersea treasure—should have effortless appeal for the preschool audience."
Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
The name robot was given in the early 1920s to machines that could replace humans by performing some of the most boring and repetitive tasks; but today, in this pop-up counting book, the robots can do it all! The creative husband and wife team of Noelle and David Carter have imagined an amazing variety of work for Bots to perform. There are flying Bots and cleaning Bots, cheer-you-up Bots and boating Bots, party Bots and kitchen Bots, and even the "amazing Acro Bots." All of them can turn, swivel, jump up, pop out, move back and forth, open and close, and then fit perfectly back into their places in this book. The blurb on the back cover says there are ten different kinds of Bots in the book and fifty-five of them altogether. Look for Kissing Bots, Hip-Hop Bots, a Rescue Bot and the amazing Acro Bots.
