Meet the Author

Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) was an American novelist and poet best known as the author of the novel Little Women and its sequels Little Men and Jo's Boys. Raised by her transcendentalist parents, she grew up among many of the well-known intellectuals of the day such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau. Little Women is loosely based on Alcott's childhood experiences with her three sisters.

This book is printed-on-demand using a computerized process. Accordingly all pictures in the original edition are omitted. Also, the formatting is TERRIBLE. There is no spacing for chapter breaks, section breaks, no indentation or breaks around the letters or poetry quoted. It contains typos and missing text (where the scanner was unable to determine original content due to wear on the scanned original). This makes it VERY DIFFICULT to read. Buy another edition - this one is TERRIBLE.
