Meet the Author

Cecilia Casrill Dartez is a former elementary-school teacher. She is a popular storyteller who often addresses schools, libraries, and private organizations about the history of Louisiana. Her distinctive, engaging storytelling style may be heard on the audiocassettes Jenny Giraffe Discovers Papa Noël/Jenny Giraffe and the Streetcar Party and Jenny Giraffe Discovers the French Quarter/Jenny Giraffe's Mardi Gras Ride, which she narrated.

Joseph A. Arrigo, a New Orleans author and artist, has written and illustrated several books about the South. His ink drawings won numerous local and regional awards. He is the author of Mississippi Gulf Coast Scenes and The French Quarter and Other New Orleans Scenes, as well as the author and illustrator of Steamboats on the River Coloring Book, Historic Natchez Homes Coloring Book, and The Louisiana Plantation Coloring Book, all published by Pelican. Arrigo passed away in April 2002.
