Meet the Author

Truett "T-Beau" West grew up in the area in the aftermath of the shock, and he came to understand belatedly some of the things he observed as a lad. After an absence of several years, he returned to his home parish to practice law. He developed a rapport with persons, both black and white, who gave him special insight into the episode and the context within which it occurred.
