Editorial Reviews

New Orleans Times-Picayune
"Blake is a skilled writer...romantic scenes that are marvelously effective."
Romance Reviews
"This story has it all, adventure and steamy passion, storm and treacherous danger, capture and spine-tingling suspense -- not to mention peacocks, lions, turtle doves, dwarfs, silks and satins and midnight escapes. A masterpiece of the genre."
The Pen Moves On
FOR LOVE'S WILD DESIRE
"This book, first published in the late 1970s and reprinted many times since, contributed greatly to the rise of historical romance; its alpha male hero helped set the standard for the genre. Beyond the "forced seduction" required at the time, the story displays what became Blake's trademarks: accurate historical detail, tasteful sensuality and lyric prose. Read it for an example of why romance novels became a publishing phenomenon."

Publishers Weekly
FOR THE STORM AND THE SPLENDOR
"Readers of the genre will revel in Blake's latest historical romance."

    Interesting read

Although I was slightly appalled by the "adventures" these women went through... read:nightmares, and by how they were both treated by their husbands as toys... the writing and descriptions were good enough to keep me reading. I have not verified the historical accuracy of the events but I do not doubt the resarch done.
I look forward to reading more by this author.

    Good reads

Two long stories filled with sexual tension and lots of twists and turns. These books did feel like they dragged on a bit and with all of the twists in the stories, it started to get too much. Sex scenes were tastefully done and not like those that describe every detail. 870 pages
