Overview

A tale of sizzling passion in a world consumed by the Civil War.

Beautiful and spirited Southerner Kitty Wright is torn between Rebel Nathan Collins and Yankee Travis Coltrane, the dashing Cavalry officer who can melt her heart with desire while sending fury coursing through her veins.

As war erupts, Kitty is abducted and ravished by a war-crazed Rebel. Rescued by Yankees, she is held captive and thrust into the battlefields to help tend the wounded. But from the first moment Travis Coltrane ignites—and satiates—the wild, raw desire in her that she never knew existed, she realizes her heart is imprisoned as well as her body.

Hating Travis for his Yankee loyalty, while loving him despite their different worlds, Kitty struggles with her guilt over Nathan, the Rebel to whom she is promised…all while struggling to survive as the world explodes around them all.

Warning: This sweeping Civil War saga features accurate and graphic descriptions of battlefield wounds, nursing, and the brutality of war.

    Good book

1300 + pages. I really enjoyed this book with the exception of 3 small things. While the heroine was an extremely STRONG woman (I loved that) she had a blind spot when it came to her fiance and seemed to be oblivious to his nature. Also I would have liked to see more details with the emotional developement between the heroine and her true love interest. Lastly the ending was WAY WAY too rushed and left the reader in limbo. Other than those I definately say give this book a read. Its worth the time and I plan to read more by this author

    Good book, but...

I had to write a review hoping the author wod read it. How can a woman go from being raped one minute and then literally seconds later, wonder what it would beike to kiss some handsome she just saw for the first time. Imposaible for me to believe a lady cod get raped for months and still ever have feelings for any man. Stupid. Our emotions dont run that high. Cmon man!!!

I really liked this book but very unbelievable. The heroine was an extremely STRONG woman. But no woman is that beautiful after being brutally raped or would survive being kidnapped so many times.

    AMAZING!

This was such an amazing story! It was refreshing to read a story that doesn't necessarely have a happy ending, or where the characters don't always make the best choices cause thats not how real life is. This book was real. It was gorry but it was the realities of the civil war with a little romance thrown in.

    Really!

The story was good, but the ending ruined it and she was so abused by everyone. Just was so disappointed with the end.

    Horrible

The herione is a complete idiot, incapable of making a decision. While she may be feisty, she has the emoional maturity of a brain damaged scarlet o'hara.

A beautiful love story set during the years of the Civil War. The author does not sugar coat the war and some of the scenes she sets are very burtal and gory. I keep finding myself comparing this story to Scarlett in Gone with the Wind and many of the characters in the Saga North and South.

    Do not bother reading

Too long and the main character was very stupid and made too many dumb mistakes. The author should have read once completed and mad several revisions.

Great reader; I get a better night's sleep now.

Love to read myelf to sleep -- which meant my bedside light stayed on throughout the night. Now my Nook with LED backlight lets me read without the light and I'm more rested and am extremely happy with my Nook.

    Addictive..

I was VERY sucked into the story. But the content is not for the feint of heart. It is unapologetically brutal in its depictions of the times of war. Extreme to the point of unbelievablility at some points. But when all was said and done, I rushed out and bought the second book as soon as I finished this one.
