Overview

When strong and handsome Heath Rayne pulled Lucinda Caldwell from a winter river, he rescued her from an icy death. But soon he was plunging her into a torrid torrent of passion that this New England beauty had never suspected could claim her.

Heath was unlike any other man Lucy had ever known: a dashing, mocking, sensuous Southerner who came as a stranger to Lucy's town-and stayed as he stripped away her last shreds of resistance to the demands of desire and the flaming fulfillment of love...

Not a new book. Just new to ebooks. Written in 1988.

It is good. Just be sure you have not already read it.

    Not Her Best

Ok, I love to read Lisa Kleypas, I started reading the Hathaway's then went to the wallflowers, this can not even come close to those books, however, in all fairness, It is Lisa Kleypas and it is not bad compared to other writers. So, it's not a bad book, it's just not her best.

Still looking for her voice here

It is easy to see that this was one of her first works. Lisa K. is easily one of the best romance writers around but here you can tell she really hadn't found her voice yet. The character of Heath I thought was cruel and distrustful of the woman he supposedly loved. Lucinda wasn't any better really. It was hard to really believe that these two loved each other and wanted to live a life together...and it got confusing w/ the whole Rayne/Raine deal. I was actually more interested in the life of Damon Redmond and would love to see a big about him now that this book has been reissued. If you want to read some of her best work (and there is a lot of it) then pick up "Suddenly You". It is truly one of the sweetest and most romantic books in this genre. Lisa Kleypas is an amazing writer and we are lucky to have her.

Relieved it was written in 1988

I love Lisa's books but this one was not typical. It was full of conflict, anger, bitterness and mistrust. I'm glad to know it was written a long time ago, I almost didn't finish it. I was dreading that her next book would be more of this.

    Love, come to me

This book gave me the chills with its haunting reflection of a fledgling marriage. All newlyweeds should be required to read it. It had the feel of youth, hopes dashed, jealousy, and marriage. I wanted to jump in a frozen lake to see if my heath would show up. Loved it.....

    Never disappoints

Hero is passionate and determined to win over the very stubborn Heroine. Loved every page! Especially loved the American setting that wasn't a Western!

    Not her best

I'm usually a big fan of this author but this was simply disappointing. It's an older book and its age shows. I found both of the main characters to be shallow and unlikable. I kept wishing that there was another relationship in the story that I could connect with.

    Doesn´t desapoint!!!

Lisa Kleypas doesn´t desapoint in this book, even not being a new one, I never red before and I liked it very much!!! I loved the way the woman main character matured in the story.I just wanted more in the end. I thought it too short. It should have an epilogue. I´d like for the author to continue with the others characters story, like Damon for example.

    This was an ok book!

I love all of lisa kleypas books but this one was sort of a disappointment. I loved the beginning until about page 70 and then it started losing me, until I couldn't wait for it to be over. This isn't my favorite and I wouldn't really recommend it. I know its not a book that I would re-read. Though I would recommend reading her other books especially the wallflowers series they are the best!!! she is such a talented writer.

    more from this reviewer

    An oldie but a goodie

This book is a reissue of one of Ms. Kelypas's first novels, and it's definitely worth reading! It's not as well written as her more recent novels, but the characters are engaging and it's a nice story of opposites attracting and finding love.

    Loved it

I think this was incredibly well written and researched. I loved reading about Concord during the days of Ralph Waldo Emerson and the whole Alcott family. I can always count on Lisa Kleypas to help me get lost in another time and place.
