Every time Sidney got upset things would go wrong. Rain would appear, replacing the clear skies. Water in the sink would transform in weird ways. A typical teenager with enough angst to last a lifetime, she fought to contain whatever it was, fearful her parents would think the worst.

On the other side of time Joan Barnes loved her magic and resented her mother for the day she ripped her from the world she knew, banishing the teenage girl from ever practicing it again. But her magic was out of control and desperation for a teacher forced her to do the unthinkable.

Join The Barnes women as they embark on journeys of self-discovery in this first book in a trilogy.

Book 2 will be released June 2014

Meet the Author

Nadia grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC. Her childhood was hard and her teenage years even harder. She faced challenges that molded the person she is today and provided good dramatic material for her novels.

Aside from writing Nadia had one other aspiration, to marry and have children. She is now married with three children. In her spare time she plays with her children, spends time as a family, plays softball and likes to watch movies and TV shows.

Nadia is of mixed heritage, her mother comes from a long maternal line of women who were born and raised in bondage and children of slave owners. Her father was from an aristocratic family in Syria. Both her parents have enriched her life by surrounding her with people of different diversities, religions, ethnic backgrounds.

As a child Nadia spent her time aspiring to be a writer and an actor. She took many acting classes and was part of many plays over the years. She also studied Kung Fu for six years during her teens and was a national champion.

Having spent many time writing short stories most of her life, Nadia finnaly realized her dream of becoming a published author earlier this year. Her first novel Reflection was inspired by a series of events where she met someone who seemed to live a parallel life to her own.

She recently began to study Kabbalah which has had the biggest positive impact in her life. The changes have led her down a path to happiness. Nadia continues to write and has more stories to come.

    R2R LoP: Love Curse

I received a free copy, through LoP, in exchange for a review.

Three generation of witches is were this book begins. Three very different times and gifts. The first experience is when young Joan is first brought into the fold, with her mother and grandmother, not understanding what she truly was until much later in life. This small family unit is chased off and they begin anew, in a different town, far away, trying to put their past and what they are behind them.

The story is fast forwarded to Sidney, a more modern day teenager, with the typical problems of one. Her parents are constantly fighting, making her wonder why they are together in the first place. She wants to be in a relationship and tries to make them work, but a strange thing happens, in each one and unbeknownst to her, it has to due with her families background, that has been kept a tight lipped secret.

This is a journey through two sets of eyes, as to what can happen if you keep family secrets from not only yourself but others.

'Joan nodded and sipped at the hot substance. She gazed at the worried looks on both Ellen's and Momma's faces. The story she read in the grimoire floated through her mind, stopping at two words, love curse. Everything she had read, was it really true? Was their family cursed? The ides of a curse just seemed to crazy to entertain the idea. But as off the was as it all sounded, everything that had happened now made sense.'

Great fun read! Interesting scenario and a good beginning to a series. Good character development and it makes you want to learn what is going to happen to this small family. Can't wait for the next one!

I would like to thank the author, for gifting me this book for a honest review and to group LOP.

This book was about two teenage girls Joan and Sidney. Joan is girl discovering shes a witch and she comes from a long family of witches. She struggles to control her magic, but she loves being a witch. Her mom and nanna want to live normal lives without magic, but Joan cannot except it. Then theres Sidney she struggles with high school and heartbreak. Sidney doesnt know about magic or that shes a witch too. Sidney's parents fight alot and she has no one
    to turn too.

I like how we get two POV's of two different girls in different generations. I really enjoyed this story, more Joan then Sidney. I struggled with Sidney she just seemed very childish at times and both girls love lifes were just to fast. We didnt get in depth about the relationships. Sidney and Will moved way too fast, she hasnt seen him in years really doesnt know him that well, are not even dating and shes already in love and just moving way too fast. Want to read the next one, hope to enjoy it too!!

Unfortunately this book was a difficult one. I really tried to like it, but even though it doesn't have a lot of pages it took me like forever to read it.

The story is telling about the lives of two witches, who lived in different time periods. ( Later you get to know that one is the grandmother of the other ) They live their life, struggle with love and have to deal with their newly discovered powers.

I really have to admit I thought about this book as plain boring. I expected it to be a story with a lot of magic, but it didn't have any. The Love Curse, the book is supposed to be all about, was only mentioned once and the reader doesn't really get to know anything about it. The only thing we know so far: It kills the men, who fall in love with the main protagonist.
I really hoped to see them fight the curse, but nothing like this happened.

At first I was planning to give 2 stars, if the ending would be nice, but I was disappointed. I was expecting this book to be a stand alone story, however I had to discover that there will be more than one book.
So only 1 star for "Love Curse".

This was a wonderful coming of age story. The author did a great job sucking me in immediately to the world of magic. I felt for the main characters and when bad things happend I sat on the edge of my seat hoping for things to turn around. This is a must read.
