Overview

Caught Between Two Conflicting Worlds ...

In her compelling memoir Love from the Other Side, author Carol Shimp tells the fascinating story of her quest to balance her daily life with her strong experiences of the spirit world. Growing up Catholic in the 1950s, Carol went to church, learned self-discipline, and participated in traditional religion. But even as a child, she experienced precognitive dreams and messages which she could not discuss with anyone. The death of her mother inspired Carol to learn more about her gifts, and to find a small group of spiritual seekers. But Carol could not have imagined the journey she would take when the earthbound spirit of someone from her past became a very real presence in her life and in her marriage. Calling on her spirit guides and her support system, Carol navigated dangerous territory, seeking to free herself, her husband, and the unquiet soul who resisted going to the light.

"Carol has always been tuned in to the creative and otherworldly dimension of life. It is a blessing that she has chosen to share her powerful experiences in her book."

- Mark Dodich, astrologer and spiritual counselor www.astromark.us

"Carol Shimp came to me requesting that I assist her in exploring her past. The result of this experience is her book." - Bob Decker, certified clinical hypnotist and regression therapist

"Carol's story is true and powerful. She was determined to heal emotional scars and help a troubled spirit into the light. Her book tells of spiritual contact and life after death through communication and meditation." -Reverend Edward "Red" Duke, spiritual leader of The Haven for Spiritual Travelers www.reverendredduke.com

    a captivating biography...

Reviewed by Tamera L. for Readers Favorite

The spirit world can be very frightening to some people, while to others it can be second nature. With deeper insight, Carol Shimp is one such woman. As a child, Carol had experienced paranormal dreams and premonitions. But then she got caught up in life, just like most of us do, Carol fell in love at an early age and planned to wed Danny Malone. But then came the realization that she was just too young and not ready for the commitment. So Carol went to school and eventually married Alex. The couple raised a family, ran a small business and shared a loving bond - that even today the grave can’t separate.

Now years later, Carol is enjoying an outing with her daughter when she runs into her first love. The only problem is that Danny is dead. Shocked by what she witnessed, Carol begins a spiritual journey to try and help Danny cross over into the light. But Danny has no intentions of going peacefully and begins an infestation into Carol’s life that will last many years. Exhausted by Danny’s persistence and facing life’s battles, Carol has to find a way to free herself and find the peace that she so desperately deserves.

Carol Shimp has written The story is well-written and inspirational in so many ways. I enjoyed taking a glimpse into her life and can relate to her spiritual gifts. I would have liked to have seen more photos of Carol’s life. Well worth reading!

    Powerful, Spiritual, Emotional

    Description:

Carol Shimp always had abilities beyond the "norm". She experienced precognitive dreams, saw/felt strange presences, and clearly shared a link with the "beyond"; however, her religious upbringing forced her to suppress her "gifts", using self-discipline and a quiet tongue to hide her "spiritual" side. But after the death of her mother, Carol decided she wanted to know more about what she could do, and found a group of people with similar interests and talents who helped her understand her "gifts". Little did she know, that as her knowledge grew, so would her link to a unquiet earthbound spirit from the past who refused to leave her and her family alone.

    Review:

Carol Shimp's story is extraordinary. I have always believed that there are people who are linked with the "beyond", but I have never read one's autobiography. I was astounded by the way the author described her interactions with the "other side". They were very detailed, and left me convinced that her "gifts" were indeed a blessing, because she helped someone lost-of-this-world find peace. Her characters were clearly based on real people in her life, and the amount of emotion towards every person/spirit, particularly Danny, helped me relate and sympathize throughout the book. What Carol went through was unsettling, yet amazing, and her sessions with the regression therapist left me fascinated. I have heard of these therapies, but I had never known what to expect from one. Her book is quite a visual one, and the reader will experience her trials, tears, and smiles first-hand. Overall, a very interesting and powerful read, recommended to anyone who believes, or wants to believe, in the "beyond" and what lies there.

    Live To Read

This was a very interesting book if a reader is interested in the spiritual side of life. The author is very informative, she explains her ability in understandable terms. The reader will enjoy the fact that the author gives background from her childhood and her life in general. The reader will likely feel as if he/she knows the author very well and may even feel close to the author at the end of the book.

The details the author includes, especially about her everyday life, are integral to the development of the novel. The writing is very fluid with no awkward transitions. The characters are interesting to say the least, the author distinguishes the secondary characters very well to the reader. The events were fast-paced and exciting. The ending was somewhat unexpected, but will leave the reader with a feeling of satisfaction. This book is recommended to adult readers.
