Okay so let me just start this off by saying that if it doesn't involve hawt werewolves or vampires in the paranormal world then I'm all about the Zombies. I love love love Zombies...yeah I know it sounds a little weird But seriously, I'm kind of obsessed with them; I loved the movie Warm Bodies and I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead and pretty much any other Zombie related thing I can get my hands on. I just find them interesting and I can't place my finger on it, but I'm sucked it. And if God forbid the world ended in a Zombie Apocalypse I'd be ready to survive it out. But let me say this book was no different. You get sucked in from the very first page and can't put it down because you need to know what's going to happen. This book had it all for me....Zombies check, love check, action check, drama check, Zombies and dead people double check, sexual frustration from both the characters and the reader check and pure AMAZINGNESS check!! I loved every moment of this book!!!!
So our story is about Laney and her brother and their close friends' survival the last 3 years. They are fighters and survivors when need be and let me say the fight scenes do not disappoint at all. Tera wrote this book brilliantly and I honestly cannot give her enough praise because this book held EVERYTHING I could ever want from a story....and then some. I love Laney's character. She's just someone you can relate to. And I feel terrible for her and the past she has to carry with her. And of course the survival of man kind rests on her shoulders because for some reason Laney is immune to the Zombie bite. While on the run for their lives they come across a colony and the decided to rest here awhile. However, awhile.....doesn't last so long. And tragedy happens to follow at this colony. As they move on to another colony things start to really get interesting....I mean if they weren't already. And poor Laney just can't seem to catch a break. Lots of things of things happen at once and this is where we really get to see the love triangle and all....althought I knew who I already liked....but that's something else lol
Ohhh and I should mention that the men in this book do NOT disappoint OMG they are HAWT and can protect me anytime a Zombie Apocalypse goes on. So the main triangle guys in this book are Sean and Mitchell. They each hold their own and have good qualities, Sean is the more safer route and someone to depend on to be there day in and day out, while Mitchell is definitely the risky bad boy....but ohh so passionate. *sigh* But hey it's kind of the end of the world so I say live a little. Right? Well you're going to have to read this book to find out does Laney make the "right" choice? Does she follow her heart...which is a struggle? Can she find peace? Can they find a cure???? I mean YEY for love and all, but one thing at a time lol Again I cannot give Tera enough praises for this book!!!! It's pure fantabulous!!!

You never know what to expect with zombie romance. I am a horror movie fan and I love The Walking Dead on AMC. I tell be the reason I
like TWD is because is examines the survivors and their relationships, not just the zombies. Tera Shanley wrote a book with the same
qualities. It is not cut a dried romance that puts your hero in this box and your heroine in this box. Laney has a few very viable romantic
options. Keeps you guessing as to who will be in the epilogue. I cheated and flipped to the back to make sure my favorite won. Laney's
relationship to the Deads (as they call them) is very unique. I was intrigued by her. I could not help but want to know more. I won't spoil it
for you. Laney is a seriously cool heroine.

5 AWESOME COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN STARS!!! So I have been looking forward to reading this book for a long time and it definitely lived up to my expectations! I've been loving the zombie thing for awhile, who hasn't am I right? :) But this was a unique story that didn't seem like I was reading a book I've read before. I felt that all the characters were well developed. Landry is tough and bad a$$. Sean Daniels is definitely a hottie but Derek Mitchell stole it for me. He was funny and such a STUD!! This book had action, suspense, romance, comedy, you name it it had it and it was a pleasure to read. This is one that I think anyone interested in the fantasy/paranormal realm would enjoy to read. ~ Leslie with For the Love of BooksWas this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I was excited to get this book from OmniFic. I'm not very experienced with post apocalyptic stories and I have never read a zombie story before but I was intrigued by the premise of the book. Laney is immune to dead bites and no one knows why. She knows she holds the possibility for a vaccine and could save countless lives. She and her team have survived on their own for three years as fighters, moving from place to place. It isn't until they come to the Denver colony that Laney has to deal with some feelings and situations she never thought she'd have to.
This book was fantastic. I could not put it down! I stayed up way past my bed time just to finish it because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep while I was waiting to find out what would happen. The characters are extremely well written. The author has done a wonderful job making you feel what they feel and feel for them. I went through so many emotions right along with them. I cried and laughed and I hurt. It was easy to put myself right there with them and feel what it would be like to live in a new world where you were constantly fighting or running for your life.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this book, even if you don't generally read this kind of book. It was a wonderful story about the difference between surviving and living. I loved it!

This was my first novel about zombies and I must admit that I was completely hooked! It is fast paced and full of action, romance, and drama!
One of the aspects of this book that I thoroughly enjoyed was all the action and zombie battles! The fight scenes are very intense and you won't be able to put the book down as you will want to make sure that Laney and the others in her group don't get bitten or killed by the zombies. Tera Shanley's writing was very descriptive and made me feel like I was fighting zombies right along with Laney.
Another aspect of this story that I really loved was Laney's character. She was a total badass! Despite being the only female in her group and the only person who is immune to zombie bites, she fights just as hard as the guys. It was really refreshing to see a book heroine who prefers to fight rather than relying on the guys to protect her.
I also really enjoyed the love triangle between Laney, Sean, and Derek! Both guys appeal to Laney for different reasons and I had a hard time predicting who Laney would choose in the end. I absolutely adored Derek <3 He has been a good friend to both Laney and her brother Jarren for years and Laney knows that she can trust and depend on him. I loved that he teased Laney relentlessly but was very protective of her when it came to other people and the zombies. Laney and Derek also have this undeniable attraction to each other and the sexual tension between the two of them is palpable! Despite all of his good qualities, Derek is a known womanizer and Laney isn't sure she can trust him with her heart. Sean, on the other hand, is the leader of a colony that Laney and her group stays with during their search for the cure. Sean is a fair leader to his colony and you can tell that he cares deeply for the people who follow him. He is also a wonderful, caring father to his daughter. Despite the fact that Laney and Sean are attracted to one another, Sean consistently acts like a jerk toward Laney. Can Laney overcome his cold demeanor? Also, is Sean truly interested in Laney or is he drawn to the fact that she could be a source for the cure? Laney definitely has a tough decision ahead of her.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys or thinks they might enjoy books, movies, and/or TV shows about zombies.

One of my favorite people over at Omnific Publishing had recommend me this book. And if she recommends something I know I am sure to love it. She has never steered me wrong before. But when I saw the blurb I knew this book was for me. I immediately emailed her to see if I could review the title and BAM! You ask and you shall receive. I quickly finished the book I was on so I could dive right into this one. I inhaled it. (No pun intended. Read on and you will understand.)
Laney has developed a sort of Dead Radar system. She can detect the Dead with just a whiff of the air. Not only that, but she seems to be immune to them. She has been bitten and was never turned. So now it is up to her, her brother, and her friends to make it to a colony with a Doctor that can help her figure out some kind of vaccine against the Dead. Just when they think they may have found that Colony, all hell breaks loose. And what the hell was that kiss about that Mitchell sprung on her? Between fighting off the Dead, trying not to get killed, and wielding advances from two different men...Laney sure has her hands full.
From the start I was hooked. This book is the epitome of what I love in a great zombie read...well, any read for that matter. There was a romance that kept me guessing on who she will end up with. Just when I thought I knew who, one of the characters would do a 180 and leave me wondering what the heck just happened. Then I would be back on the fence trying, yet again, to figure out who she would pick. Or in some cases...who would pick her.
This book was intense, intense, and more intense. Yes! That is the word I choose for this book. And saying it once just isn't enough. And I am not just talking about the Dead. I am talking about all of it. You absolutely have no idea where the author is going to take this story until the moment it happens. Just flippin’ amazing. I devoured it well into the night. Who needs sleep when you can read a good book, am I right? Yes I am!
Do I recommend this book? Most definitely. Does it have romance...and not just the Dead vying for a piece of fleshy action? Of course. Lots of it to keep you in romantic suspense. Is the story well written? So much so. This author is one you will need to watch out for. She has what it takes and I plan to read more of her goods.
