Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joni Lucas
Big, beautiful, glowing illustrations depict the many different ways that love can be demonstrated in everyday life. In this sweet book, a young bear spends a fun-filled day discovering that love is all around him. The simple and rhythmical text offers opportunities to talk about what love means to each of us. But it is the pictures that really make this book come alive. It richly portrays bears, rabbits, bees, and skunks enjoying the friendship of their companions and family in a pure, uncomplicated way. This is a great book to snuggle up with at bedtime or anytime you feel like cuddling with someone you love.
Library Journal - Library Journal
PreS-K-Cabban captures and communicates the perpetual motion of a carefree toddler. The rhyming text follows a young bear through a day of normal doings (walking with parents, a picnic with friends, bath time). Each double-page spread shows the smiling youngster finding love in an activity. "Love is splish-splashing through puddles,/And love's getting soaked in the rain./Love is a rainbow that bursts through the sky/When the Sun begins shining again." The book is saved from being overly sweet, though just barely, by the exuberance of the watercolor-and-ink illustrations. This book is meant for one-on-one sharing, and youngsters will enjoy searching for the tiny mice that follow the young bear and his friends on their adventures. If your copy of Sam McBratney's Guess How Much I Love You (Candlewick, 1995) sees a lot of action, this book will too.-Timothy Capehart, Leominster Public Library, MA Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.

I checked this book out at our loval library for my 2-year-old grandson and he wouldn't let me return it. I renewed it a couple of times and thought this definitely one for the bookshelf. We read this everynight, along with others, but this is his favorite and a nightly must-read.

My daughter checked this book out at her school library and asked me to help her read it. I was hooked! I had to run here to buy my own copy! This book is an absolutely wonderful way to touch on the essence of love with not only children, but adults! Who of us who have been in love can't relate to the first two pages? "Love is that full of beans feeling that makes you leap out of your bed, Love is what makes you throw open the curtains and somersault round on your head."

A wonderful story easy to read with great color! One of my favorite sentences: 'when someone quietly listens to everything you've got to say' Isn't that what we should do for those little cuties!

This is a great book. everything about it is so sweet. My daughter has loved it since she was 6 months. Now she is 3 and still reads it all the time. It makes a great gift too, but I recommend the hardcover version for that. The text is easy to read and quite memorable for the kids. the pictures make it even more charming. One of our favorites!
