Mary Todd Lincoln is given such a bad rap by historians for many reasons. She went insane after Abraham's death, and some claim that Abraham never truely loved Mary. This is the most captivating love story I have ever read. It tells of how Abraham and Mary fell in love, and their love never died. It also talks about the hardships that they faced- losing elections, and even losing sons. Historians also talk about how Mary spent all of her husband's hard-earned money on clothes. Irving Stone makes you truely believe that Mary was a kind woman with the best intentions. This is my favorite book ever, being an avid Lincoln fan.Was this review helpful?
