Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"Who can resist [Jim Benton]?" -- Kirkus

Praise for Jim Benton's board books
"They all touch on topics that may get active toddlers to sit still for a story -- and older siblings to read aloud. With smells, robots and messy paint, what's not to love?" -- Kirkus

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Where is love? Benton presents the concept of love’s constancy everywhere with words and illustrations. The rhyming verses convey the presence of love, although there is occasionally an awkward rhythm. A cartoon heart with a face symbolizes love and appears in a variety of settings with different children. The range of situations supports the idea of love always being there. For instance, the heart is present as a girl walks in the rain and holds her umbrella. In another portion of the page, the heart is the sun shining on the boy who is sitting at the beach. In the snow setting, the child builds a snowman that has a heart-shaped head. Some children will find it humorous that love travels with them even when parading in their underwear or that love does not mind snoring during bedtime. The book ends with details in the illustration showing loving pairs of “parent and child” with birds, rabbits, flowers, clouds, and more. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung; Ages 3 to 6.
