Overview

John Boswell stands out in the crowded field of New Age pianists because he writes from the heart. His compositions are miniature instrumental dramas taken from the trials and tribulations of real life. There's nothing glib or superficial about the soulful melodies that flow from Boswell's hands. LOVE -- the core of a trilogy that began with the award-winning 1998 album TRUST -- is the intimate diary of an intensely tender spirit. And while it's teeming with rich, romantic tunes, LOVE also has an almost austere atmosphere, as if Boswell has scraped away everything superfluous. What's left is pure emotion, like love itself. From the joyous bounce of "Bliss" to the profound melancholy of "Absence," Boswell gives us love in its many mysterious manifestations. "When You Take My Hand," the album's sole vocal track, is sensitively sung by Julie Last, though it's even more haunting in the original instrumental version ("From the Heart") heard on TRUST.
