Meet the Author

About the Author: Hal Schroeder
Hal believes that the most important spiritual lesson he ever learned is that "to give and serve are the routes to our own salvation while opening our minds to limitless possibilities. Many opportunities with the homeless, those we call the 'basket people,' have always produced great leaps of growth, telling me that they are the very angels to lead us to the light. They are the reality of the Biblical injunction that 'the first shall be last, and the last, first.' " He has been writing about these lessons for 26 years.
Hal's writing is centered on forgiveness examples and ways to practice it. The Forgiveness Affirmation is the center of each of his books and the basis of each essay:
I forgive all that is not;
I remember all that there is."
He believes that his "work on forgiveness and spirituality is part of the new divine order of things, carried forth by me as a messenger of forgiveness as directed by Spirit." He was also a superintendent of schools three times in the United States and abroad, creating numerous innovative programs, "while encountering the wrath of those who did not want fundamental change."
Earlier in his life, Hal served in the Peace Corps, which informed his present day work. "Serving in Ethiopia as a teacher in the Peace Corps totally changed my life, my world view, my appreciation of all other peoples. I can unequivocally say that Ethiopia gave me much more than I ever gave it."
