Overview

Geoff is in the city, living the gay life to the hilt, when his father's death convinces him to return to the family farm. Discovering a young Amish man asleep in his barn, Geoff learns that Eli is spending a year away from the community before accepting baptism into the church. Despite their mutual attraction, Geoff is determined not to become involved with him, but Eli has discovered that Geoff shares his feelings and begins to court him, neatly capturing first Geoff's attention and then his heart.

Their budding relationship is threatened by closed-minded, gossipy relatives and the society at large, a whole new world to Eli, and he must decide whether to return to the community, his family, and the world and future he knows or to stay with Geoff and have faith in the power of love.

An excellent book. Well-written, believable characters you care about within the first page of their introduction. Yes, I wish I'd written it! For years I've been thinking about writing a book about a young Amishman who decides to leave his community during 'Rumspringa', the time Amish teens leave their homes, etc. to live in the 'outside world.' Andrew Grey has done an outstanding job of portraying just what this might be like. Elijah, the young Amishman takes such noticeable delight in the simplest things - riding a horse, taking care of the horses, working on Goeff's farm after having been found in the barn. Their developing relationship is handled with compassion, with understanding, with love. This is an outstanding book. Don't miss it! JD

Each book works as a stand alone, but works so much better if read in order. Also, they are published out of order, so this should be the order for the first three books: Courage, No Shame, Healing (novella). Then the rest can be read in order of date. Great series, minus some editing issues.

Andrew Grey is like potato chips - you cannot just read one of his books. This one is part of his farm series, a series that I love, and it is delightful, if a bit formulaic. Erotic M/M romance, adults only.
