Overview

Never say never. Especially not to a determined bad boy.

Zander Minelli is exactly the wrong kind of man. He’s dark, dangerous, and knows far too much about sawed-off shotguns.

Faith Davidson finds him irresistible. The widowed single mother knows she should dip her toe back in the dating pool with someone solid and dependable. Definitely no tattoos. But every time she looks up, the brooding soldier is watching her, and she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to let herself have a taste…

Small town summer nights have never been hotter—and one transplanted city-girl’s heart has never been more fragile.

I think I'm going to be hard pressed to find another book boyfriend as perfect as Zander. Seriously, he's all that and a bag of chips. He's funny, sweet, sexy, enough alpha to satisfy any woman and at the same time a patient, kind and understanding person. After his first encounter with Faith he knows it's not going to be enough, and meeting up with her again just solidifies for him that even though she's trying to hold him at arm's length, she is the one he can see as part of his future. Some of the story portrays their long distance relationship, as Zander still has obligations to his military career and travels back and forth. I thought that was portrayed realistically, and if absence makes the heart grow fonder, it definitely works on Faith. Zander's a wonderful father figure for Faith's son too, and seeing a strong, confident male show that parental side is enough to give your ovaries a zing. The sexual chemistry between Zander and Faith is present from their first meeting, and we get some surprisingly steamy scenes between them as they connect on an intimate level. Faith may guard her heart from Zander at first, but he does a pretty good job of wearing her down. Equally interesting was seeing the other couples in this story, in particular Jake and Dani whose wedding we witness here. The friendships and family relationships all have that warmhearted feel to them, which isn't to say that conflicts don't arise, but that there is no doubt that they have strong bonds that can weather any storm. And while there are some emotional moments in the story, I found it to be very low in angst with lots of laughter and sweetness. I'm going to call this one as my favourite in the series so far (and really, they've all been excellent). 5 stars.

This is the Pine Harbour series book 4 and it is about Zander Minelli and Faith Davidson. Retiring from the military in six months, Zander hasn't completely decided on his next move. Meeting the beautiful author at Greta's Bakery left him feeling dazed. That was unusual but he liked it. Their attraction was mutual but Faith, a widow for 4 years, wants to concentrate on her 4year old son, Eric. "... and he thought, how is this beautiful woman all alone? How can I not pursue her?" -Zander *sigh* How can you not fall in love with a man that thinks like that? Zander is a good man and though he is everything Faith doesn't want, she has no control over her heart. Fantastic characters in a great story line. I can't wait for the next book in this fabulous series! Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

The Zander Effect ...It is real, it is strong and it is so so delicious. If you don't know what the Zander effect is where have you been? It can be summed up as " the height, the swagger, the incredibly sexy encyclopaedic knowledge....and so much more. Walk your fingers quickly over to that buy button and click away, you will not be disappointed. This is book 4 in the series, it can be read a standalone, however be warned once you are done you will be buying the others. They are that good. Zander is back home, Faith lives nearby, they meet CUTE and their story unfolds over many many wonderful pages. The dialogue is snappy, quick, very very thoughtful and quite lovely; You will fall in love with Zander, Faith and Eric. Eric will just melt your heart.

4.5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I read it in one sitting. The story has laughs, secrets, grief, and heartbreak. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Love in a Small Town (Pine Harbour, #1) Love in a Snow Storm (Pine Harbour, #2) Love on a Spring Morning (Pine Harbour #3) This is Faith and Zander’s story. Faith is a widowed single mother and spends her time writing. Zander is on leave from the military. When he meets Faith he knows he wants to get to know her better. Faith does not need a guy who is a wanderer. She needs a solid man that wants to put down roots. She knows spending time with Zander will only lead to trouble but trouble never looked so good. Can she put her faith in Zander that he will come back to her and she will be enough? Or does she need to let him go? Can Zander prove that he is the one for Faith and also that he would do anything for her and her son? Or does he need to let her go? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book, this series, and this author.

Just like with Love in a Snow Storm, it's the characters that make this book so great. York does a fabulous job with their motivation, history, and interactions - letting us get to know them as they get to know each other, being there with them as they fall in love and watching them have ups & downs. I love how real her characters and their issues feel. Zander is absolutely fantastic, with an amazing amount of patience and understanding, but also a fun sense of humor - I absolutely love him from their first meeting. He's always there to support Faith & Eric and he totally keeps his head each time that Faith gets scared, probably from that crazy Minelli family of his as well as his military training. Faith is having a little bit of a tough transition (York does such a great job of making sure we understand why), so she does a lot of dancing around her relationship with Zander. But he's such a sweet-heart in a bad boy's body that she has no hope of resisting :) I think these everyday romances - where you feel like the people are friends and that their problems could be anyone's problems - are my favorites. They are just so ... well, real. And York is good at delivering on that with great characters that you can relate to, a good deal of humor to have you smiling and just that right amount of heat to make it spicy! Zander is on a short leave from the Army before he finishes his final 6 months, so he goes home to Pine Harbor. while there he meets Faith, a fairly new resident. Faith is a widow raising her 4yr old son on Pine Harbor, a place far away from her former wild and crazy life. After losing her husband in a senseless accident, she refuses to take any chances and fall for anymore bad boys. When Zander rides up on his motorcycle and she sees tattoos peaking out from under his shirt, she knows she needs to stay away from him. If only he’d listen. This book follows Faith as she is opening a new chapter in her life and is finally accepting that it’s time to open her heart and her mind to the possibilities. Being a widow myself, I liked witnessing everything Faith was going through in this new chapter. I absolutely loved Zander and his no give up attitude towards Faith. It was a great story with great characters. I look forward to reading more books from this series. I highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review.Zander is on a short leave from the Army before he finishes his final 6 months, so he goes home to Pine Harbor. while there he meets Faith, a fairly new resident. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review... Sexy, intriguing, and sweet. Faith is a widow and mother of one sweet kid named Eric. She is well known author and is currently trying to finish her next book. To get a change of head space she escapes to the local coffee shop for some yummy treats and me time. Zander is in the Army and a wander of the first order. He is on his way home to try to nail down some plans for his possible retirement from the Army when he makes a stop at the same coffee shop. Faith catches his eye and he is intrigued. What they both think is a chance meet with a stranger never to see again turns into so much more.

Wow…just wow! What a wonderful story!!! This book had everything I look for in a romance. It had strong male and female characters, great dialogue, warmth, heart, passion, love for family and a great story to tell. Zander Minelli is a man I think any woman would fall for – what a charming wonderful man! Faith Davidson has made a name for herself- she may be a widowed single mom but she is a whole lot more. What began as a chance meeting over a slice of pie and mug of coffee eventually, over time, developed into a long distance romance with the potential for more. And, what a romance it was! I thoroughly loved this book and have to thank the author who bequeathed me a copy of this book through NetGalley. This may have been the first book I have read by this author but it will not be my last. Note: I started this book in the afternoon and could not put it down till I finished…even though that meant going to bed later than I thought I would ;)

I just love this series by Zoe York! This book in particular was amazing. I love that Zander and Faith are an older couple with plenty of life experience and maturity that make their HEA a little more challenging, but still very romantic. Zander didn't think he was the type of guy that would settle down so when he finds himself almost ready to retire from the military and needing a new career he heads to his home town. The home that he left all of those years ago, except for coming home for weddings, funerals and holidays he hadn't been home for any real length of time. His family is large, busy and always in each other's business and Zander found that intrusive and challenging. When he meets Faith he isn't surprised that he finds her attractive, but almost immediately he realizes that she is different. She is someone that has been hurt and needs to be cared for not just someone to love and leave and it surprises him that he is interested in her knowing all of that. Throw her son into the mix and Zander is all about stepping up and making sure that they are both loved and cared for. Faith misses the closeness of a loving relationship, but she can't go there because she is too frightened to love with all of her heart and have them taken from her. She's been there, done that. She'd barely gotten through it. She and her son were fragile. They needed someone to love them that would take it slow and know that this was for life or they wanted nothing to do with you. At first Zander was just some hot guy to flirt with. Then he was someone that she was just going to have fun with, but it soon becomes serious and she realizes that she's the one dragging her feet while Zander is running into this relationship full steam ahead.

I definitely think every woman needs a Zander in her life. All tatted up, motorcycle riding bad boy on the outside. Heart of gold, kind, loving, and a hell of a cook on the outside. *sigh* Zander's been out of Pine Harbour for a while, but he's ready to say goodbye to military life and settle down in his hometown. Just 6 months to go, but now he's home for a two week visit and to try and figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. Meeting someone as wonderful as Faith was never in the plan but now that he has, any future without her seems unbearable. Faith had her one love but he's gone now, so she devotes her time to her young son and mother. Dating isn't something she's ready for. Well until Zander happens. But he's all wrong for her. At least she thinks so.....right?? This is a wonderful love story. One that proves that the heart wants what the heart wants regardless of what the brain says. I definitely recommend this one.

Love on a Summer Night is Zander's much anticipated story and the author doesn't disappoint. I wasn't sure what to expect from Zander when we were teased with him previously, but he's not what you'd expect from a leather-clad motorcycle-riding soldier. And that's what Faith discovers quickly as well. She forms an early opinion of him and spends the rest of the story trying to reconcile her heart and her mind regarding Zander. Zander is just, well, I'm not sure how to describe Zander except to say "I want me one". He's an alpha hero but extremely sensitive, patient, and understanding. He's incredibly sexy and confident and knows what he wants and makes no bones about it. But he understands where Faith is coming from with her perceptions and ideas of love and relationships and is patient with her, but makes his intentions known. He's great with Faith's son and sensitive to not usurping Faith's relationship with her son as his develops. Love on a Summer Night is well written and well paced. The relationship between Zander and Faith is well developed and very realistic and the intimacy scenes are well written and very sexy. A great addition to the Pine Harbour series. You don't need to have read the previous books in order to enjoy Love on a Summer Night, but you'll want to read them because they are all equally fantastic.

Zoe York is known for signature stories that are sensitive, passionate and emotion charged. All of those words describe Love On a Summer Night. This novel is standard Zoe York with a little bit more edge. Zander is more tense, moody and has a lot more baggage than the average hero in one of Ms. York's reads. The twists and turns he has traveled may have something to do with that. The heroine Faith is a nurturer that is floundering and trying to find a new direction. I received an ARC of Love on A Summer Night in exchange for an honest review. It surprised me how well this couple worked. So different but so perfect for each other. Zander provided Faith with the courage to give love another try and Faith gave Zander the guidance, protection and understanding he needed to get past his tumultuous memories. Shouldn't have worked but it somehow did.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. This latest in the Pine Harbour series is, in my opinion, the best one yet! From page one, Zander intrigued me. The bachelor soldier didn't second guess his instant attraction to Faith. Unlike so many other heroes, he didn't try to talk himself out of his feelings, he just fully embraced them. And his bonding with Eric...heartmelting! Faith is the one holding back. She's suffered a tragic loss, is a bit too overprotective of her son and not ready for a man, in any capacity. But she's spunky and funny...and flirty with Zander without meaning to be. As always, it's great to revisit old friends from past books. You'll need a tissue or two for chapter fourteen and another later on! But don't rush it...this book should be savored and enjoyed. I know I did!!
