Main characters Jake and Callie are deep and delicious, easy to like and fun to watch. The setting whisked me away to the expansive and beautiful big sky country... Add delicious food, cozy rooms, and steaming beverages—and I was content to read for hours! The plot added the elements of danger and suspense and kept me guessing until the very last page. If you're looking for a romantic read that will satisfy, you can't go wrong with Elizabeth Cole's Love on the Run.

Love On The Run by Elizabeth Cole Callie, Calista Reed is on the road when Jake Brand the cop, or is he a cowboy gets her attention and she hands over the license. Problem is he saw her cut and knows it needs to be tended to, just before she fainted. She gets driven to the medical center where the doc gets the bullet out of her leg and Jake states he will take her back to his house to watch her for the next several days and swears he will get the man who did this to her. Montana is wild country but her plates had CA on them. With the heavy drugs she was on she woke up once and kissed him deeply and he tries hard to resist her. She dreams of her other life, with Malcolm and how she got shot by a gun... Love the descriptions of not only the house and it's furnishings but the outside landscape, breathtaking! Finding clues and working them out to solve the mystery of what she was hiding, he was good at. Love how he dealt with the kids he found at school. As they spent more time together she trusts him now and she tells him what happened to bring her to Montana. He is honest with her and tells of his past life. He can't deny he wants her and she knows she wants him but it can't be... Parts I liked the best were when they were outside enjoying the natural beauty of the land and just the simple things, a walk or sitting on the porch. Besides being a romance book that heats up nicely it is also a mystery book. If she is to tell her side of the story she'd be put under FBI security til trial and taken away and she's not sure that is what she wants in her life.. He just wants to keep her happy and safe... Love all the action and the escape...

Calista 'Callie' Reed is a struggling actress when she meets Malcolm Foster. He is a well known big-wig in the movie industry and a very powerful friend to have. Unfortunately for Callie Mal isn't just in the movie business - he is into all kinds of nefarious things, including money laundering, illegal gambling, and drug smuggling. Having a stable full of corrupt cops, lawyers, and judges in his pocket makes him essentially untouchable. Mal is vain and wants everyone to know that he can have the best of everything, so he brings Callie with him everywhere, exposing her to all kinds of knowledge that could ruin him. Yet he never even thinks to worry because he is so certain that his CallieCat (his nickname for her) will never be able to get away from him. After seeing Mal shoot & kill business associate Eddie over a drug deal gone wrong, Callie bolts. As she is racing towards Eddie's car Mal shoots her in the leg. In a haze of pain Callie drives as fast and far as she can away from Mal and that entire life. She eventually pulls over on the side of an interstate to get some rest. It is there that Montana Sheriff Jake Brand finds her. While asking for her license he notices Callie is covered in blood and is in shock. He rushes her to the small town's local clinic where the doctor discovers the blood is due to a bullet wound. The doc patches her up and sends her home with Jake to recover. The former Army Ranger, turned Marshal, turned small town Sheriff and the glamorous actress are drawn to each other but fight it. Jake resists mostly because Callie won't tell him the whole story, while Callie is just to scared to let anyone in. Things heat up between Callie & Jake, but then Callie's situation goes downhill in a hurry. Will Jake be able to save the woman he has come to love in time? This book reads like a traditional romance, without graphic love scenes. There weren't any real surprises, but it still makes for a great escape from the real world for a while. The characters were OK, but some things seemed off in their behavior, particularly given the timeline of the story. But it still had its moments, many involving Bruiser, Jake's adorable & loyal German Shepherd, and makes a decent beach/poolside read.

By: Elizabeth Cole Published By: SkySpark Book Age Recommended: Adult Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: 4 Book Blog For: GMTA Review: "Love On The Run" by Elizabeth Cole was a well written contemporary mystery, suspenseful romantic read. We find Callie Reed is on the run to Montana because she has just witnessed a murder. Who would have thought Callie would meet country sheriff Jake Brand who 'saves her life.' However, when Jake asked her one thing: 'the truth' will Callie be honest with him and tell him all. This is where I say you must pick up "Love On The Run" to find out will the truth come out and if so what will happen to these two: Callie and Jake? Will Jake be able to keep her 'safe and bring down the bad guy? If you are in for a quick read, good story and even believe in love at first sight...then "Love On The Run" would be recommended as a good read for you.

I’m a reluctant romance reader who has read too many love stories with slight characters and predictable plots. I was delighted to discover Love on the Run by Elizabeth Cole. Main characters Jake and Callie are deep and delicious, easy to like and fun to watch. The setting whisked me away to the expansive and beautiful big sky country, where I could live vicariously through the main characters as they watched the sun rise over the mountains. Add delicious food, cozy rooms, and steaming beverages—and I was content to read for hours! The plot added the elements of danger and suspense and kept me guessing until the very last page. If you’re looking for a romantic read that will satisfy, you can’t go wrong with Elizabeth Cole’s Love on the Run.
