Overview

After touching down on the psychedelic ground of America, Asia, Latin America, and Japan, the folks at QDK have headed to Ole' Blighty for some late-'60s and early-'70s blotter fun. Alluding to the day's musical giants, the mix conjures up the goth organ ambience of Procol Harum (Bodkin's "Three Days After Death, Pt. 1"), the Small Faces' mod experimentation (Andwella's Dream's "Felix"), Hendrix's blues balladry (Candida Pax's "Reach Out"), and, of course, the Beatles' paisley pop (Gary Walker & the Rain's "Magazine Woman"). Through the mesmerizing and lo-fi mix of fuzz guitar, wobbly vocals, organ trippiness, and all-around garage raving, most tracks here transcend their obvious influences to become something fairly original. More far out than Syd Barrett at times and even catchier than an Association hit, this edition of the Love, Peace & Poetry series will provide crate-digging psych fans a host of musical pleasures.
