More About This Book

Overview

It had been a year ago that 19-year-old Lindsey Dennison's life had taken an abrupt turn. While away at Cornell for her freshman year at college, her parents' marriage had imploded. Lindsey learned the harsh truth about her father, and his involvement in criminal activity that was the focus of a major federal bust. Her father had slipped out of the country with his lover and cohort in crime, Susanne, shortly before the FBI arrest warrants could be served. He was now a fugitive from justice, deserting his only child. Lindsey was left trying to pick up the pieces of the life she now realized had been a house of secrets and lies for all of those years.

After her mother's marriage to Eric Slater, one of the special agents of the FBI involved in the federal investigation that occurred in their hometown of Indianapolis, Lindsey decides to start fresh at a new college close to where her mother, step-father and baby brother Bryce are now living outside of Washington, D.C.

Life is different now for Lindsey, but it is about to change even more. Her step-father's partner and best friend in the bureau, Trace "Taz" Matthews, is about to rock her world in more ways than one. Taz is nearly ten years older than Lindsey, but her initial interest in him is physical only. Lindsey has a problem that she is certain Taz can fix . . . but will he?

Despite their best efforts, Lindsey and Taz are tossed together by fate on more than one occasion, and this G-Man does not appreciate the distraction. There are complications for Sammie and Slate along the way as well. A risky pregnancy for Sammie requires the family to pull together and Lindsey's life suddenly becomes increasingly complicated.

There is a budding romance on the horizon for Lindsey with a wealthy, Ivy-League type guy she meets at school by the name of Kyzer Stanfield. Kyzer's interest in Lindsey does not sit well for Taz. When Lindsey must leave school to return home to help her mother, Taz is relieved that she will be distanced from the pursuit of Kyzer. . . but not for long.

Things are never quite as they seem. Lindsey will learn a brutal lesson about trust, compassion and strength. Taz will learn lessons about love, intimacy and honor, and that sometimes doing the right thing has consequences.

Love Plus One is the follow up book to Diamond Girl, it can be read entirely as a stand alone book.

Andrea Smith takes you on quite a journey in Love Plus One, it is a roller coast of adventure, emotion, mystery and sensuality. Lindsey has had a pretty tough couple of years and the ones she is going through now aren't exactly a cake walk either. Taz is very dedicated to his goals get his doctorate and continue to move up in the FBI he is rather blindsided by his emotions for Lindsey.

It is important to note that this book does contain a rape scene, not a let's have a rape fantasy, not a dubious consent scene a vicious, brutal rape scene, if this is something that is an emotional trigger for you you may want to be aware of that. It is done as part of the story not as anything titillating.

The action moves pretty fast however we are still treated to characters that are well written and have emotional depth. The love and the sex as well as sexual tension is throughout the book and Ms. Smith also manages to give us a few laughs as well. Both Lindsey and Taz grow and learn together over the course of the book and the secondary characters are fun as well.

I am going to be sure to go back and read the first book Diamond Girl and I hope that the story will continue soon as there are things left unanswered still.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I fell in love with Slate and Sammie in book 1 and oh boy oh boy did I fall in lust with Taz and Lindsey
in this one.  Their relationship was a rocky one to start.  Her inexperience, his age, what's she went
though over the past year with her dad...the cards were stacked against them.  But love really does
conquer all. There was love and sorrow, drama and struggles, steamy sex and tender love.
This book surpassed my expectations.  Can't wait to see what's in store for Darcy and Darin in the next book,
    Night Moves

This book is a good continuation of the first and has more juicy details about the mess Jack was into.  This book shows Lindsey's life after daddy rat bastard and her growth into a mature woman. At times I felt like she was in a box trying to scratch her way out. I hate all of the stuff she had to go through on account of her father, but I am glad she had Trace there with her, he is the best. Sammie was super selfish and like a totally different person in this book than book 1. I guess the growth from the first book was to be expected, but it wasn't a good change for her, in my opinion. Oh my goodness! Someone needs to cut Jack's eye out with a spork or a spoon or a paperclip. Susan is disgusting and she needs to die. Kyser is weird. I can't say much about him without giving it all away, but pay close attention to all of the characters. Everyone add a little something something to the mix. I kinda felt like I was playing detective while reading. Looking for clues and trying to piece together what was about to happen next while laughing at the funny banter and swooning over the hot men and sweating under the collar over those rated x scenes.

I am totally in love with these characters and with this author. I can't wait to read whatever else Andrea has out there.
This is the story about Lindsey and Taz...and it actually starts almost exactly where Diamond Girl ended. Each could easily be read as a stand alone, but why wouldn't you read both? I really felt bad for Lindsey for the first portion of this book. I mean, seriously, what's a girl gotta do to get laid? LOL! OK, so there's a decent age gap, his best friend just married her mom, she puked in his truck and he made her feel bad about her inexperience in some areas in the bedroom. She's telling him she wants no strings and he (mr. player) is saying no. I LOVED IT!!! He does eventually give in. I mean, he's only got so much will power. This story was original with all kinds of surprises along the way. I was shocked and actually had tears threaten to form a couple times. (That's really saying a lot because I think I've only cried while reading 3 books.) So what else is there besides sex you ask? Several references to my favorite show - Criminal Minds (Taz even calls Lindsey "baby girl"), a semi-stalker, a couple of phychos, a kidnapping, a couple of druggings, a drug bust, a few babies being born, a little brutality, hospital stays and a whole lot of love and tenderness. I'm so disappointed that I waited so long to read these books. If you haven't read this series, pick it up and enjoy!

4.5 stars! The issues that I had with Diamond Girl weren't as prominent in this book. I think that Andrea Smith is a very talented writer. My main issue with this book was the dialogue and Lindsey's inner voice. They were just a bit awkward and unnatural. It wasn't enough to ruin the book, though. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

I liked this book just as much as the first book! I do think it can probably be read as a standalone but I'd recommend reading both. It was suspenseful, funny and definitely steamy - the sex scenes weren't gratuitous but advanced the romance.

I think Taz is my new book boyfriend! This book was an excellent continuation from Diamond Girl! Follow Lindsey's(Sammie's daughter) as she falls for Slates friend Taz! Taz can be sweet and romantic but he is also an alpha male to the core! I loved the interactions and the chemistry between these two! This book is a must read, can't wait for book #3!

Where to start? This book was AMAZING, I must say I think I love

Where to start? This book was AMAZING, I must say I think I love this book and Taz a tiny bit more than Diamond Girl and Slate. Taz was such a sweetheart and his character was new and refreshing and no so cookie cutter like all other book boyfriends out there( Weird, but I loved that he wasn't circumsised!) . I loved Lindsey! I loved her character and you could tell she was a lot like Sammie and also not like her. I enjoyed how her and Taz took the time to actually have a real relationship and it grew, I really enjoyed that. Not just wham and bam.
Slate, oh Slate, how I'm happy Slate and Sammie were in this one a lot and Slate's comment about the Coyote howl, I laughed for probably 10 minutes straight! This book had it's ups and downs and it was riot! Lindsey doesn't take no crap and I loved it! She stands up for herself, loved every second of it! I knew something wasn't right with that sleezeball Kyzer! Ugh, I wish Taz would of put a bullet in him for what he did! I also was hoping we would find something out about Lindsey's dad, I assume he is dead, but still. Would like to know. I loved how taz was always there for Linds, especially after what she went through. He is a truly wonderful man and now one of my top favorite book boyfriends! I love how Andrea wraps up the books in one big book, it didn't feel dragged on or like the story should go on. It was wrapped up beautifully and this series is one of my favorite! I truly loved this entire book, every second of the ride. Must read amazing series and book <3

Oh, may I add, I think this series needs to be made into a movie!
Slates story, then Taz's. they would be an amazing movie!!

Unlike any other book in a magnifcintly simple way

Amazing book. It was sexy, intruiging, action, and romantic in a swoon worthy way. I was nervous about the love triangle that was hinted at in the blurp but it wasnt even an issue with how sexy and amazing Taz was. Read this! Ur missing out! And i read this as a stand alone book.

Definitely a favorite in the series, and a great follow up to Diamond Girl. Love the chemistry between the two and the love they share for each other. Love that Taz is there for her when she needs him no matter what.
