A little magickal mischief never hurt anyone...

Erik MacGregor is from a clan of ancient Scottish warlocks. He isn't looking for love. After centuries, it's not even a consideration...until he moves in next door to Lydia Barratt. It's clear that the shy beauty wants nothing to do with him, but he's drawn to her and determined to win her over.

The last thing Lydia Barratt needs is a demanding Scottish man meddling in her private life. Just because he's gorgeous and totally rocks a kilt doesn't mean she's going to fall for his seductive manner.

But Erik won't give up and just as Lydia lets her guard down, his sister decides to get involved. Her little love potion prank goes terribly wrong, making Lydia the target of his sudden embarrassingly obsessive behavior. They'll have to find a way to pull Erik out of the spell fast when it becomes clear that Lydia has more than a lovesick warlock to worry about.

Warning: Contains yummy, hot, mischievous MacGregors who may or may not be wielding love potion magick in an effort to prank their older brother, and who are almost certainly up to no good on their quest to find true love.

A Great New Series From An Author You Will Want To Follow. Rating: 4 1/2 stars I received a copy of this book from the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way. Our author does not waste any time in fueling the fire between these two. This author certainly knows how to stimulate the reader’s imagination. You will get so lost in this book that you will lose track of time. It’s a book that you will not want to put down. It’s a great romance that has a little paranormal suspense and has an ending that will leave you smiling. And that ending will leave you wanting more and this is what makes a great author. She knows her readers very well. If you’ve never read this author before, this story may give you the incentive to change that.

This story was pretty fun, it was a great premise having people with magic in the modern world. There was a whole lot happening, ghosts, evil spirits, magic, a werewolf, potions, possessions, an evil human, and a rather crazy love story. I really liked the heroine. I was surprised at her sexual behavior at first, but that was later explained very well. I didn't like the hero as well. He was a good hero in a lot of ways, gorgeous, nice, cool magic; but, he was arrogant and didn't listen to the heroine very well. That was part of the story. It was a pretty good read and I am definitely reading the next book, hoping the friend gets better. I really didn't like how we left the heroine's best friend.

Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews by Kim I've never been so wrong about a book. Okay, so that came out wrong. I've never been more surprised by a book. I thought Love Potions was going to be a funny, light-hearted, paranormal romance. While it does have it's funny moments, it is so much more. Love Potions gives you a Scottish Warlock , Erik MacGregor, and his rambunctious family; including his four brothers, sister and a cousin, along with his parents and extended family. I didn’t mention that the cousin and brothers are ALL drop dead sexy and playful. And the sister is fun with a little mean streak. For her part, Lydia Barratt is a quiet homebody. She loves staying in the house she once shared with her grandmother and making lotions, soaps, and teas for her home business, Love Potions. Lydia doesn’t believe in magic, even though her dead grandmother was a natural witch who likes to come back to her from time to time. Love Potions is the start of what I hope to be a very long series for Michelle M. Pillow. It gives you wonderful characters that you just have to love. You also get hot, steamy foreplay, light-hearted funny moments, spells galore, and a little suspense to keep things interesting. Oh, and furniture-moving sexual encounters. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Source: Personal Purchase

Title: Love Potions Author: Michelle Pillow Publisher: Entangled Publishing/Covet Published: 6-2-2014 ISBN: 13-978-1-62266-593-8 E-Book: B00K90DFSE Pages: 218 Genre: Paranormal Romance Tags: Magic Sensual Level: Overall Rating: Great Reviewed For: Entangled - Brynna Reviewer: DelAnne Erik MacGreggor is from an ancient clan of Scottish warlocks. With the passage of time his clan and his work has kept him to occupied to give romance and love other than a physical liaison here and there a thought. Now that the clan has moved to Green Vallis things remain in chaos as they settle in. The there is the neighbor they did not know was there... Erik goes to meet Lydia Barratt he is not prepared for the effect she has on him. Although there were rumors of her grandmother being a witch have been around ever since she first came to live with her, Lydia is still not sure she believes in magic. Other than her friend Charlotte, Lydia has pretty much turned into a recluse. All she wants is peace and quiet and be allowed to take care of her gardens and sell her lotions from her home business, Love Potions. What she gets is Erik and the other quirky members of his family. Peace left when he showed up and there is nothing quiet when it comes to the MacGreggor clan. Then Erik's sister decides to help the situation and it backfires miserably. Just when it looks as tho a solution is in sight they find that an old evil has decided Lydia is the answer to increasing his power and he will stop at nothing to get it. Lydia is my type of heroine. She has fears, but shows true courage by facing them and going on anyway. Erik at first is an arrogant pain in the but who is use to obedience without question. Something Lydia is quick to let him know is never going to happen. Then he grows on you and begin to see the true man inside. There is so much humor and subtle innuendo in the story that you will laugh as you read. Ms. Pillow throws many a twist and turn to keep you guessing until the end. This is a wonderful story by a new to me author. The various members of the MacGreggor clan have me imagining who is next to fall. If Love Potions is any indications of how the other books in this series is going to be, then I will be on pins and needles waiting for the next. Thank you Entangled Publishing for the review copy. It has been a long time since I have fallen in love with a cast of characters so quickly. I look forward to my next visit to Green Vallis.

Opposites attract romances are usually fun to read. There tends to be a healthy dose of humor entwined with moments of seriousness. Love Potions is just that. There's plenty of teasing and joking between Erik MacGregor and his family. They pull pranks on each other just because, and the laughter they induce doesn't stop even when Erik and his brothers brawl on the floor. Their sister's no saint either; her prank brings about the most delightful, laugh-til-your-stomach-hurts scene ever that involves poor Lydia. I've never met a woman who doesn't like the idea of being serenaded. It's romance at its best--him declaring his undying love for her while the world listens in. For Lydia, that wasn't the case. Erik's impromptu serenade of her was the result of a spell gone wrong thanks to his sister. Still, I couldn't stop laughing even though I felt bad for Lydia being subjected to his caterwauling. But there are also serious moments, mostly between Erik and Lydia. Erik's smooth, confident, and does what needs to be done to get what he wants. His attraction to Lydia is undeniable, but his methods of gaining her attention are less than stellar. He's forward and assuming, not realizing that Lydia requires a softer touch, that she deserves a softer approach. Lydia's a semi-recluse, preferring the solitude of her hillside home to mingling with others. It's not that she's not beautiful or smart or a go-getter. Her grandma was labeled eccentric and a witch. I can see why she was reluctant to leave the sanctuary of her home. Don't think for one second her reserved behavior means she's weak. She's not. Erik might be all that and a bag of chips wrapped up in a kilt, but Lydia's got a mind of her own and she doesn't take crap from anyone. She's not shy to put Erik in his place, refuse his requests, or listen to his commands when she knows she can be of help. Love Potions is a quick, snappy, witty, fun-filled love story about two people who hardly seem compatible but really are. This is my first novel by Ms. Pillow and it won't be my last. I can't wait to read about the rest of the MacGregor family and how their magic plays into each of them finding their own happy ever after. ***Received from Entangled Covet for an honest review***

“Ly-di-ah! I sit beneath your window, laaaass, singing ‘cuase I loooove you’re a—“  When the handsome & hunky Scotsman Erik MacGregor shows up in Green Vallis, Wisconsin, Lydia Barratt’s quiet world will never be the same again! Lydia just wants to make her lotions and keep to herself, growing her internet sales and only venturing out into town to mail her products. When Erik MacGregor enters her life her quiet existence is turned upside down, and we are treated to a laugh out loud story with magic, mystery, and some steamy times. I really enjoyed this story and loved watching Lydia try to deny her attraction to Erik and then try to fight off his advances – especially since that attraction has a bit of a magical element and influence to it! And once Erik’s family gets involved things just go from crazy to insane. The shenanigans that go on between the siblings in the MacGregor family were priceless, and it was so much fun watching them all try to one-up each other with the pranks and spells (and even some modern technology).  There is a magical connection between Erik and Lydia, and although this connection can potentially be dangerous for him, Erik can’t resist the pull he feels towards Lydia. And when his sister ends up putting a spell on Erik that doesn’t quite go as planned, it is quite comical watching Erik profess his feelings to Lydia through song and prose! Of course Lydia can’t resist Erik either, but she can’t help but be a bit wary of him once his magical nature is revealed. And that mouth on Erik does nothing to help Lydia keep her cool around him… “Aye, love, I already know how good I am in bed. You’d be lucky indeed to get me between your sheets.” As magical things heat up in the small town of Green Vallis, Lydia gets caught in the center of some magical mayhem that ultimately finds both her and her friend Charlotte in danger, and the MacGregors having to band together to keep evil at bay. Throw in the very vocal ghost of Lydia’s grandmother and some colorful townfolk, and this made for one fun read! This was a great introduction to the MacGregor clan and I can’t wait to read more about the other members of the family and hopefully see more of Lydia and Erik in the future. I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

This is the first book in the Warlocks MacGregor series. It’s a fantastic paranormal romance about a woman who wants nothing more than to be left alone and a determined Scottish warlock who is willing to use plenty of magic on her to get what he wants that it will have you laughing out loud. Add in some hidden evil and meddling family members and anything can happen. I cannot wait to see which MacGregor clan member gets their story told next. Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle: *Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review Love Potions was a fun, witty, supernaturally charged Paranormal Romance with just enough intrigue to keep you guessing. I'm a longtime fan of Michelle Pillow, and when I saw that she had the debut novel of a new series coming out I was super excited. Plus, you can't go wrong with hot men in kilts, right!? :)  Erik is part of a large long-standing Highland Warlock clan. They're looking for a new home base and find that in the midwest. What Erik (and his entire Clan) aren't prepared for, is that they have a neighbor who is utterly unwilling to move and who immediately puts Erik off of his game, and who is already embroiled in some lurking evil that even she is not aware of.  Love Potions made me laugh out loud in more than one place. The entire MacGregor clan loves to do nothing more than play magical tricks on one another. While it's all a bit immature, they ARE an immortal clan of siblings and cousins who live together throughout time, all the time. I think I'd find new and interesting ways to hex my family, as well.  The leading couple, like all of Michelle's heroes and heroines, have plenty of steamy on-page action, and while their path to their HEA wasn't an easy one, it was full of relief for the reader when they got there and super fun every step of the way. I cannot wait to see which of the MacGregors Michelle writes about next in the WARLOCKS MACGREGOR series. I have a feeling that every book of this series will be engaging, romantic, and full of light-hearted fun. If you enjoy your paranormal romances filled with magic, mayhem and plenty of wit, then this book will most definitely be a good one for you to try!

This was a great fun read.  Erik and Lydia were such a fun couple.  I loved their immediate connection as well as their banter.  It was a refreshing change that the heroine in the story did not immediately give in to the hero.  Don't get me wrong I totally saw how Lydia reacted to him at first, but she tried to remain strong and make him fight for her affections.   The overall family dynamic was hilarious.  The MacGregors were a strong tight family who had each other's backs.  But through that they had a lot of fun ribbing each other.  I adored Malina.  She is the youngest sister and reading her interactions with her brothers was laugh out loud funny.  I definitely look forward to the future books in this series just to read what they will do to each other next. I wish I was more familiar with the terms for the magick and was a little confused with the dark spirits that were lurking.  I think I finally comprehended it all.  Glad to see certain characters got their dues. Only wish there were a little more to the ending.  But I guess with the next books in the series we will see what becomes Erik and Lydia. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Love Potions is a magical romance story that had me laughing out loud. Erik MacGregor is an ancient warlock who moves himself and his immortal warlock clan next door to Lydia Barratt, a lotion making home body.  A few spells gone wrong, an ancient evil enemy and a magic wielding family that loves to play pranks makes Love Potions a marvelously delightful read. If the steamy chemistry doesn't grab you the hysterical antics of the MacGregor clan will have you caught up in their eccentricities. Pillow once again provides a highly imaginative storytelling that will provide a fantastic read for those who enjoy humor and spice in their paranormal adventures. I personally would love more from the MacGregor clan.

In Love Potion by Michelle Pillow, Lydia was raised by her Grandmother Annabelle after the death of Lydia's parents.  Annabelle was whispered to be a witch, a reputation that still follows Lydia, and not always in a good way.  Lydia doesn't even know if she believes in premonitions, let alone magick, even if her Grandmother did teach her all she knows.  Some of those teachings helped her form her business "Love Potions", that she runs out of her Grandmother's old house, now Lydia's in Green Vallis.  Lydia keeps herself fairly isolated with the exception of her friend Charlotte.  Lydia is completely oblivious to the potential inside of her, of what she really is. Erik MacGregor is a Scottish warlock, searching for a new home for his large immortal, magickal family.  He finds the perfect estate in Green Vallis.  He is one hot Scotsman, and when Lydia meets him, not knowing what he is, the hold he immediately has over her is spellbinding.  She feels an immediate, lustful pull towards him from the start.  Just thinking about him makes her ache in a way no man ever has before.  Lydia has the same effect on that is blatantly obvious!  Erik quickly discovers that Lydia lives in the only house near the estate.  His family wants him to buy her out, they can take no chances on discovery of what they are.  But from the start the connection between Lydia and Erik is too hot, too real to ignore...even as much as Lydia tries to deny it.  Little does Lydia know that she has powers that connect her to him. Through magick gone awry, ghostly visits and the journey of self discovery Lydia takes, Michelle takes us on an enchanting journey in Love Potion.  But lurking in the shadows is an evil, waiting to take what it wants to make itself stronger, from who ever it can.  And just when you think it's over, Michelle throws in another twist, jump starting your adrenaline again!  Now that Erik has found his soul mate, can they survive to have a future together?  Or will evil push them apart and win? My summary really can't do justice to Love Potion, it is a fantastic, 5 star paranormal romantic suspense!  Lydia is a strong heroine, afraid of things but standing up to them anyway.  She has stuck it out in Green Vallis and is not going to leave now!  All of the MacGregor's are so much fun to read and learn about!  Erik might be living in modern times, but parts of him are still old fashioned.  I can totally hear his voice in my head as he stands in front of me in his kilt, Michelle's character descriptions are that good!!  I really enjoyed the way she brought Lydia and Erik together. Lydia gives us a hilarious romantic journey in Love Potion, and she manages to go from funny to frightening in the blink of an eye!  I loved how she managed to mesh the immortals with the mortals effortlessly so that it seemed real.  The unexpected twists and turns in Love Potion blending romantic heat and suspenseful fear will keep you immersed in Love Potion and dreaming of men in kilts!  Michelle's flow is smooth and the writing is flawless.  I do hope that Michelle will write future MacGregor books, the entire cast of secondary characters need their stories told too! I highly recommend Love Potion by Michelle Pillow to any paranormal romance reader looking for suspense and a lot of laughter!!

Love Potions by Michelle Pillow This is a great read with lots of humor, lust and family foolery. It also includes a touch of light evil for suspense and drama. Without getting into spoilers, the scene where Erik's sister plays a trick on Erik is fabulously funny and touching. He's so in love! Great entertainment. Lydia Barratt has lived in her small home town all her life. The townspeople may think she's a little reclusive but they forgive her for the great lotions she makes and the fact that she doesn't cause any problems. Erik MacGregor is a warlock and his entire clan is moving onto the mountain. When Lydia and Eric meet there are instant sparks. Literally. And it's a little more than he's prepared for. Somehow she's got the power to steal his magick! I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I received a gift copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Lydia has lived a very quiet and secluded life due in part to the fact that her Grandmother was rumored to be a witch. Even with all the rumors flying around about her dear departed Grandmother Lydia does not believe in the supernatural. She lives in a little cottage on a hill and runs her business Love Potions out of her home. She has always fantasized  about living in the big mansion on the same hill that has been abandoned for years. Erik is in town looking for a home for his family they need a large estate since there are so many of them. Erik runs into Lydia while she is on her way to take some packages to be shipped. Lydia knew the minute she laid eyes on Erik that he would be trouble she just had no idea how much. Strange things start to happen and it seems she is obsessed with her new neighbor. She starts to see things that cannot possibly be real and do things that are just out of this world. Unbeknownst to Lydia there are evil forces looking to use her connection to Erik for their own nefarious purposes. Her friend Charlotte unfortunately gets caught up in the mayhem with her. This is a highly entertaining story and a definite must read for nay lover of witches and warlocks! The McGregor clan is a hoot to read about and Lydia is not so bad herself dishing it up to them as well.

Love Potions A Warlocks MacGregor Novel Contemporary Scottish Magickal Romance A little magickal mischief never hurt anyone... Erik MacGregor, from a clan of ancient Scottish warlocks, isn't looking for love. After centuries, it's not even a consideration...until he moves in next door to Lydia Barratt. It's clear that the shy beauty wants nothing to do with him, but he's drawn to her nonetheless and determined to win her over. They'll have to find a way to pull Erik out of the spell fast when it becomes clear that Lydia has more than a lovesick warlock to worry about. Evil lurks within the shadows and it plans to use Lydia, alive or dead, to take out Erik and his clan for good. Review: If you like fun, paranormal romances....then you should pick this one up! Now, I have never read this author before, but if all of them a filled with this fun, witty, snarky, dialog...sign me up for more of her books.  So, I was sneaking reading this one at work and there were quite a few times, that I had to stop myself from laughing out loud while reading.  Loved the part where Erik is been whammied with a love potion and he is singing outside of Lydia's house.  The book is not all fun and games though, there are some nastys out to get at not only Erik's power, but someone is obsessed with Lydia.  This story is full of magickal beings; warlocks, witches, ghosts, and shapeshifters and though it has all these things the Author did a great job of blending them all into a cohesive world/story. I loved the characters from Erik and his sexy, alpha male self to Lydia, who starts out shy and reclusive but comes into her own while dealing with Erik, his family and all the things happening around her.  Erik's family is fun, they are like a bunch of 10 year old's living in adult bodies...they are always up to mischief but are right there to help each other out in a crisis.  I am hoping we get to see more of Lydia's best friend Charlotte, the poor thing gets put through the wringer in this book, so hopefully she will get a HEA. Great story and I cannot wait until the next in the series!!! 4 Stars

Lydia lives in her Victorian house and makes potions. She is happy with her quite life, but things change drastically when she gets new neighbors. Erik MacGregor and his clan move in. They are ancient Scottish warlocks. He is drawn to Lydia and wants to make her care for him. Lydia is drawn to him but fights the attraction. Who will win this battle of wills? I enjoyed this wild and sexy paranormal romance. The story is so fast-paced and filled with humor. Erik is a charmer who doesn't know his own power. Lydia may be quiet and shy but when tested she is feisty and stubborn. I definitely want to see more of the Warlock MacGregor clan. What a fascinating and rowdy family. The plot is well done and filled with so many surprises. I was hooked from the first page. I loved Gramma Annabelle. She has the spirit. Also, I want Charlotte to find love preferably with a MacGregor. Love Potions was a wild and crazy ride. I want more.

Erik is looking for a new place for his clan to live. He thinks he has found it and after meeting Lydia he really wants to stick around. He is a Scottish Warlock and gave up thinking he could find love. He is surprised by Lydia as is there is more to her than he thought. She can take his powers and runs a Love Potions business. Lydia is drawn to Erik before she even sees his face. She is hooked when she sees the man ho belongs to the sexy voice. She is intrigued by him and his prankster family. However she has more worries to deal with an evil is has it's eye on her and will stop at nothing to get to her. Erik is a sexy man who like Lydia's is sure to be in your dreams. He is powerful, has a sense of humor, very protective and if he has a fault is he takes things for granted at times. Lydia is sweet, seems shy at first and while she has an open mind it does take her a bit to take to the really magical stuff. She has a wild sexy side that Erik seems to bring out. I love all of Erik's family. They at times seem like a bunch of overgrown kids. I really enjoyed this book as for one sexy men in kilts! That was enough to catch my attention. Add in a great plot and a whole cast of great characters and it made a great book. Lydia tries her best to resist Erik. She may seem shy but she isn't afraid to make him walk the line. There is several good laughs in this books and it just makes you want more of this family. The warlock and other magical things are simply amazing together. I love the danger and the author did surprise me at times. There was plenty of sexual heat in this book that made me want more and I couldn't wait to see when Lydia and Erik got together. I hope the author gives each of the clan a story because I would for sure read about all of them. If you like a great story with paranormal in it as well be sure to get this one.

What is it about the Scottish that fascinate us so?  It it the accent, all those growling burrs and lassies?  The image of the highlands all green and mystical? Or is it simply the kilts? Through in some paranormal romance and I was so there. When I saw this book I was intrigued and thrilled that I was able to get it. I had put in a request through both the publisher and through Netgalley to double my chances and got a yes back from both.  The story opens with Lydia Barratt going about her typical day in Green Vallis, Wisconsin.  Lydia has lived in Green Vallis all her life, from the time she was a small child. Lydia lived and worked in the house that her grandmother, a self-professed green witch, had left to her. Lydia wasn't sure that she believed in everything her grandmother had taught her, but she was starting to make a name for herself and her small business, Love Potions.  While taking a load of lotions and soaps to be shipped out to the post office, she meets Erik MacGregor for the first time. Erik MacGregor was in town to locate a suitable property for his extended family and clan.  It was currently his turn to find a location that would be suitable for the dozens of family members who would be descending on whichever location Erik chose for their new home.  In Green Vallis, he has found the right combination of energies and activities to keep the family from growing bored. It's not long before Erik finds himself completely enchanted by Lydia.  I was surprised by this book. Just about the time I thought I knew which direction the book was heading, the author would change things up. I liked that though Lydia wasn't aggressive, she wasn't a push over either. She held her ground and gave back just as good as she got. I especially liked that she didn't just fall at his feet, but made Erik work for the relationship. There were several times that I laughed out loud, and I admit to shedding some tears as well.  Overall this book just worked for me. It is a solid 4 star read and a great start to a new series.

I jumped at the chance to review a novel of this author because I had never read any of her work and I was curios. Unfortunately I am not a huge fan of this story. The story was confusing and I obliviously don't get Ms. Pillow's sense of humor. If you have read her stories in the past you might like it? I received a free copy for an honest review.

Sometimes I just love my book review job beyond all measure and this has been one of those weeks. To have the opportunity to review a new series from Michelle M. Pillow has been a real pleasure. I have only recently discovered her Dragon Lords series and was blown away with the first book. So when I was sent a notice that Ms. Pillow had a new series and there was the chance that I could get a first look, Wow did I jump at that like I haven't jumped before. And I'm so pleased not only that I did but that I've read this unique book. I'm also thrilled that this is going to be a new series, fingers crossed. So what has me so gripped and delighted about this book? Let us first discuss this cover. Can anyone say “Whoa”? There is so much going on in this cover and yet it really does give you a taste of what you will read about between page 1 and The End. Namely an amazing Scottish man and a little magic. Our heroine, Lydia Barratt is a shy beauty that runs a local business that specializes in lotions but is best known as the granddaughter of the towns local witch. She has been quite content to fill orders and deliver them to the post office but runs into our yummy Scottish warlock, Erik MacGregor on one of deliveries. The heat coming off these two is combustible and yet they both have reasons to avoid involvement much less a relationship. Erik’s make concern is to settle into the large estate which he as purchased and get it ready for the rest of his clan to arrive. While Lydia just isn’t into a quick fling. Once the clan starts arrive hijinks and magic start to become part of the narrative and I was delighted and captured especially by the pranks that the Warlock MacGregor siblings play on each other. The images of someone frozen in place still brings a smile to my face. However, there is also an evil presence that is trying to take over more than just the town. Not to mention Lydia’s grandmother appearing as a ghost which was a real addition to this story. Final Thoughts, this is definitely a book that anyone that is a fan of magical hijinks, great story and a Scottish hero to die for needs to add to their library. Ms. Pillow has set up an amazing world and I can’t wait to see every last one of the MacGregor’s land under the influence of a Love Potion or two. When is book 2 going to be out, Ms. Pillow enquiring minds want to know. Entanged: Covet Publishing provided me with a copy of Love Potions but nothing else was exchanged for my honest review.

I loved this book! Not only did it make me laugh out loud all the way through, but I was invested in the storyline and wanted Erik and Lydia to get their happily ever after. And I was not disappointed. Between the MacGregor family pranks to Erik's singing, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face while reading. If you're looking for a fun, humorous read, then this is a book that delivers. Loved the quick wit, smart writing, creative storyline, and likeable characters. A entertaining, playful peek into a "magickal" world. **I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
