Overview

Was She from the Past, the Future, or Both?

As the encroaching flames grew greater, Gayle's braving face swelled red with ashen blisters. Her waist length hair ignited, as did her blood-stained dress. The pain more immense by every passing moment, Gayle wrestled with the ropes that bound her. The villagers, now with less anger in their eyes, read only of grotesque curiosity, curious of death and its nature of arrival. Gayle burned before their very eyes and yet no one of the phlegmatic crowd would hide from the sight. A painful, spine-chilling, scream exuded through the air.

Since childhood, Jason had been haunted by dreams of Gayle, a witch who was burned at the stake centuries before. Linked in a way that no one else can quite understand or explain, these two souls discover how difficult-and yet, how easy-it is to remain together, despite the toils of time and eternity.

In another time, and another place, Mike, a young and precocious soul, is himself haunted by strange dreams and visions. What is the source of his latent powers? And who is the mysterious lady in white who meets him at every turn?

Love Returns Through the Portal of Time is a dazzling novel of the power of love and the endurance of the human spirit.

Meet the Author

There’s no better way to describe K S Michaels save that of survivor. He suffered his first heart attack at the age of 12 when playing flag football. He was ambulanced to Kaiser Hospital only to be wrongly diagnosed due to the rarity of his disease. Unfortunately, this disease didn’t even have a name until 10 years after his first heart attack.

At the age of 26 K S Michaels was, again, ambulanced to a hospital while suffering heart failure when working in Los Angeles. The emergency technician recorded a heart rate of over 280 bpm. This time properly diagnosed by Seders Sinai hospital of Los Angeles with having Wolf Parkinson’s White Syndrome (WPW). It is said that most who suffer from this disease had died before they ever knew they were sick. Many of those who were properly diagnosed like Regie Lewis of the Boston Celtics and Hank Gathers from Loyola Marymount University died when attempting to perform their athletic profession due to the severity of such a crippling disease.

As documented at Loma Linda International Heart Institute, K S Michaels has endured more life threatening heart failures than anyone in the USA hitherto.

In 1986 while fitted with a 48-hour EKG, halter unit-recording device, it was reported that any one of the 500-plus episodes of arrhythmias could have been fatal.

In 1989 K S Michaels was one of the first in America to undergo an experimental procedure referred to as ‘Partial Catheter Ablation’. The assumed success of the surgery was televised in Los Angeles, California on the Channel Four News with Steve Candelus reporting. Unfortunately, the success was short lived when the palpitations and fainting spells returned only stronger with every episode.

To this day K S Michaels has endured over 15 heart surgeries, hundreds of Electro-Physiological Studies, three pacemaker implants and many other related surgeries due to side-effects and unfortunate malpractice.

The true endurance of the human spirit was defined when K S Michaels was prognosticated with having only six to eight months to live in 1991. Fortunately, he proved contrary to all the American Medical Association when he refused to give up, and continued to fight armed with only willpower and the temerity to live. As miracles unfolded, K S Michaels had to learn to guide his own heart (literally). When the incessant attacks would occur, he would will his rhythm to a stable rate.

    A LOVE THAT TRANSCENDS TIME!

This is an unbelievable 'true love' story. This book was a fateful, generous gift from a girl who is, now, my girlfriend. Her message was simple: `This story is my dream for you and me.' Obviously, I had to read it asap. And WOW!!! Nothing could have been more flattering. After reading this book I felt compelled to reassess my love life. This truly is a wonderful love story of phenomenal dimensions spanning an eternity of destiny. The attention to detail behind the seriously complex plot was amazing and yet easy to follow.

The intensely passionate love and close friendship between characters is extremely moving.

This is definitely not some cheesy romance novel.

Mike, with his strength of character, independence, resourcefulness, moves adeptly through three timelines and is driven by the passion for his soul mate, Miranda. We travel with both of them, and with sub-protagonists, from the western countryside of the 1800's to the contemporary of today with all inclusive challenges of both strife and sacrifice, as they attempt to impact history and continue on together with a love that transcends the boundaries of time.

Unbeknown to Mike, Miranda possesses the real magic behind the mystery of time. Her patience and endurance pays off ten-fold when the climactic reunion culminates via the driving love that only soul mates could begin to understand. The remarkable characters of this romantic soul searching story are bound to capture your heart with their shared humor, love and passion for life.

However, I found that the romance behind the SEARCH through hinting connections are what melted my heart and brought chills to my nape.

It would be an unjust disservice to simply label this book a romance, as it is far more than that. It is a wonderful adventure story interspersed with historical events and authentic period detail. Relenting to fate amid life's challenges and sorrows is a task we experience vicariously with hope.

The inner strife that Crystal faces is unparalleled to be sure. I truly hope to see what happens to this brassy, diva, hardship in the coming sequel. The author reveals the unfortunate of truth where, many times, in life's episodes of winners, there is almost always the dregs of losers. But Crystal is no loser! Her sacrifice is well received as her undying love is unrequited. The hind of her spark for life still lives in the embers of her broken heart.
A message is granted us all in this story of fate. I have never read anything so promising of love to be found in the unusual. I would have to agree with the accolades this book has garnered.
Perhaps I am bias, for had it not been for this book, I too, may have continued lost in search for my soul mate.

I highly recommend this book for you...or for your soul mate!

    Soul searching quorum of immortality

This is a beautifully written story that the closet romantics of the world will most definitely appreciate. This story ventures timelines from the early witch trials to the manic life of today. I agree with the accolades this book has garnered. The characters are interesting, loving, and at times very funny and cute. But the underlining message is always present in the realm of the protagonists named Mike and Miranda who receive premonitions and dreams about their mysterious past. This is a story about a visceral strife that exists in all of us. It¿s explores a life within a life that most of us take for granted or simply ignore. After reading this book I pray never to take intuition for granted. The author offers an original work so very different from the many other books I have read on the subject of travel through time. Usually a tool or gimmick as a mirror, the passage of sleep, or a pair of shoes, or jewelry is needed as the vehicle that allows for the time traveling plot to be believable. K S Michaels grants us the viable and most probable via one's own soul. Thank you K S Michaels for showing me this very new path of reality through the portal of time and reincarnation. As an avid reader of paranormal romance and the all the ramifications of time travel, I enjoyed this intriguing story above and beyond most. IMO this story is epic; an epic sleeper. I feel lucky and privileged to have even founds this wonderful love story. The plot was well thought out with an abundance of unsuspecting and exciting twists that gave me chills each time a relevant connection would unfold. I loved both the humor and the personalities of the, well developed, characters. I truly can¿t offer enough praise to this author. I will read this book many times over because it touches me and my very soul. A lot of work and thought went into this wonderful story. I highly recommend this book. And I look forward to seeing more from this very talented author. I was discouraged by the price, so I researched around. To my surprise I found this book availible through Kindle for under seven dollars. Now I am so ever grateful I did my homework. I will probably buy the the hard copy anyways.

    The best book EVER!

I am an avid reader and usually read 1-2 books per month. I saw a recommendation for this book while reading a book review for 'Twilight'. I then purchased the book and was so happy that I did. I have never read such an original romantic story. The characters and story flowed so well together that it was easy to follow that as I read I was able to envision the characters in my mind (which is rare for me). I finished the book in less than a week.

I am so very impressed with K S Michaels. He is now on my list of favorite authors and 'Love Returns' is officially my favorite book. This will be the "gift book" that I give to my friends.

Spare Yourself and Save Your Money

After reading so many glowing, rave reviews, and after being unable to find the book in any library, I finally broke down and bought it. I love a good time travel/reincarnation story, and looked forward to reading something great. Wrong!! The book was amateurish, poorly written both in terms of story and language. I actually thought it might be a joke at first, because it was so over-the-top in a ¿dark and stormy night¿ Bulwer-Lytton winner kind of way. However, it wasn¿t meant to be a joke, the humor was unintentional.

The first thing I noticed was chronic incorrect word usage. The writer came across as someone who relied on a thesaurus to pick fancier, ¿smarter¿ sounding words, without really understanding the word. This led to using words in the wrong place or in the wrong way. Sentences changed tense from past tense, to present and back to past. The language and grammar errors made it irritating to read -- a good copy editor was desperately needed.

The second big problem I had was that if you are going to set your opening chapter in a famous historical place and time, DO YOUR RESEARCH! There is a ton of information available about the Salem witch trials -- while I can overlook a few errors, there is no excuse to have every tiny detail wrong. If your excuse is that the book is fiction, then set it in a fictional time or place. How many witches were burned at Salem??? NONE. EVER. And this was only one of many glaring errors, which made it impossible to concentrate on the story.

The third thing is that the characters were so clichéd and broadly drawn that they couldn¿t be taken seriously. All the main characters are totally amazing!! Awe inspiring and adored!! Super powered and super human!! I felt like Tom Cruise was jumping on my couch!!! Next time I will know that if a book can¿t be found in any library, there¿s probably a very good reason. And next time I will research the publication house if I haven¿t heard of it before -- if I realized this was a self-published book, I might have been a little more cautious about spending $20+ on it.

ENCHANTING LOVE STORY THROUGH THE PORTAL OF TIME

I had no idea what to expect from this new author, with the reviews varying from one hint to another. So I accepted the gamble of another possible generic blur of insipid mundane. The first chapter immediately dives into historical backround of careful consideratons. I was impressed. Next came the introduction of the new timeline with characters of real originality, heart and soul. And again, I was pleasently awed with the verve of this author. As an avid reader I found myself fostering an attachment to a story that grew momentum with every turn of the page. Before I realized it, I was 250 pages into a world that gave no hint as to where this exciting plot would lead proving I was hooked and compelled to finish the book in one sitting. Very few authors with allow the reader to delve so deeply into each character as K S Michaels has so generously delivered. Assuming the author is male, I would vouch his work will one day be a classic on every shelf of every household. I don't think we've seen the last of this lover of great, romantic tale. This book amazed me. I am truly looking forward the sequel.

    SIMPLY PERFECT

This is a story I believe to be an epic winner. The way K S Michaels draws upon humor and depth in his characters is unprecedented. These are the people that we appreciate and love as our own best friends. I found it interesting that the historical background was not boring or drawn out at all. In fact, the information on the American Indian to be most fascinating. The history was what synchronized all the timelines into perfect harmony. And I especially enjoyed the relationship between Mike and Crystal. It is what brings the story to such pivotal climaxes; from the hysterically amusing to tragic sadness. But don't assume this is a sad story, on the contrary. The surprise conclusion brings on the catalyst of happy tears. I will read this book again and again. So much research went into this riveting work; 'work of art'. I am grateful to have had the privilege of reading it. I just can't say enough about this epic romance novel and how it made me feel even days after reading it. The way I look at life has been changed forever. The endless possibilities offer justified hope for all romantics still in search of their soul mate. And viable hope for those still in search of the meaning behind those strange feelings we all get but dare not mention for fear of rejection or ridicule. I got chills a dozen different times when finding similarities to my own life, and those esoteric connections between the characters.
The story begins like a blockbuster movie where a horrifying dream of a young boy is found to be the absolute truth of his past life. The dream was so real that he wakes with injuries he sustained over two hundred years earlier. He then dedicates the remainder of his life to the research of his dreams, his soul mate, his practice as a healer, and his future life. Aware of the fact he will, one day, be reborn, he and his beautiful Indian wife do the unbelievable. When reading into the third timeline the connections unfurl with spine chilling effect. Without giving away the most romantic ending ever, I can say you will not be disappointed when Mike and Miranda make history via a love-journey appropriately named 'love returns through the portal of time'. Highly recommended.

If there were to be a movie made from a top-selling novel I would pick Love Returns Through The Portal of Time to be my all-time favorite.

I can't wait to read the sequel!!!!!!!

LOVELY ROMANCE STORY WITH A TWIST OF PHILOSOPHY

I enjoyed this story very much. I believe there is only a hand full of writers who can just rock my world, make me cry and make me laugh hysterically. K.S. Michaels shares a well thought out story of adventure and romance that makes for a very interesting read. Many times when reading chills ran up my spine when the connections of the puzzel were revealed. Crystal's personality is much like mine. I can identify with her pain and isolation. However, her deeper, prim-rose, self would come to surface when she was with Mike. Her humor was wonderful. I could love her like no other. I especially loved her jokes. The writer offers a near new genre of its own. Unlike the many timelines of time-travel books, Love Returns is a cute, eye-opening look at the manipulation of one's fore-knowledge of his and her next life. The reader follows the path of Mike's incarnate soul of three separate timelines. The latter of the three was my favorite. The second was the historical background necessary for the foundation. I had no trouble following the chronicled events and uncanny connections. I suppose I am a biast reader inasmuch as I have always believed in reincarnation. Similar to Mike, I too, have had my share of visions and feeling of the future. Perhaps the subject is still too controvercial for church and government, but I would regret not having read such an entertaining chock full of theory. To me, this is a fresh new look at the possibilities of Paranormal Romance. I.M.O. this is the best book on the subject of reincarnation that is available today. And believe me, I read them all, even as far back as The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, also made into a movie. My eyes are wide open now, looking out in search for the hints of my own destiny. Hopefully, mine will be equally happy an ending as Love Returns Through The Portal Of Time. We are all looking for that special soul mate. BTW the time capsule was the most awesome twist of fate that no one would see coming. I recommend this book to those interested in the theory of how ROMANCE can be found.

My friends said this book was great. But i had too much trouble finding it. i ended up having to order it from Barnes. ARGH!!!!! For some reason Barnes does not stock this book on the shelf. In some ways the story was cool. i liked Crystal and Mike the best. i think they made a better couple. i realize this is fiction, but i dont see how somebody could really fall in love with someone from a dream, or a past life memory. At least Crystal loved him Mike the start. i also think Crystal was a better character than Miranda. Also i had some trouble keeping up with the timelines. Plus there was some works that were either misspelled or i didnt understand them. I like Stephenie Meyer. I just got done reading the twilight series and loved it. i think there is no better author!!!

Mike is high school drop out, but not by choice. After a tragic car accident, where his girlfriend dies, he couldn't handle the pressure of his loss or the mother that would taunt him. He moves out and away finding love in all the right places, but with all the wrong people. When through romantic magic, he finds Miranda. Crystal is a wonderful character, but miranda is his soul mate. Mike must make a choice--hurt the one that loves him or love the one he loves. The time capsule of his past helps him to make the choice of lifetimes. I loved the story. So have many of my friends...ECR RULES!!!

The controversies of reincarnation strike fires!!!

As such of a controversial subject, there would, undoubtedly, be opposite cause and effect. I can understand the wedge between church and some foreign beliefs as current reviews provide irrefutable proof. However, there comes a time when we need to set aside our stout worthy sermons just long enough to understand that this is a work of fiction, and the whole idea of writing novels is to entertain the public with new ideas. If this author has managed to stir up a hornet's nest, than he has done his job. And quite well, I might add. Perhaps the author is from India. I like what I have read here. I like the intricacies that K S Michaels had painstakingly plotted out so skillfully meshing three timelines of related souls and family. The story is actually quite beautiful. The idea of searching out one's soul mate in the fashion the protagonist did in this story was spectacular. Before reading this book, I had never given the idea of reincarnation very much thought, never considered how it could possible effect me. Now, after reading this book, I am elated with new, wondrous horizons. I wouldn't quite call myself an avid reader, however, out of the several hundreds I have read in the past twenty years, I trophy this one as my favorite book of all time. This story is the epitome of hope tandem with a privileged definition of true love.

AN INSPIRATION THROUGH TOILS AND SNARES.

The author of this book was our speaker of the week at the college last month. He spoke in behalf of Loma Linda International Heart Institute, who through the graces of modern medicinal miracles, save Mr. Michaels life a number of times. He presented us with his clippings of his appearances on television news and other such documentation showing the severity of Wolf Parkinson¿s White Syndrome, that I found to be horrifying and, at the same time, informative and inspiring. Mr. Michaels represents the epitome of the passion for life and love. He is a true survivor. After dozens of heart surgeries, and countless, serious life threatening heart failures, he releases this book. But instead of writing a book about his personal strive to survive the toils he faces daily, he chose to share a love story brimming with passion and the love for life I saw in his every word. He claimed the book to be fiction, but I feel differently having met this wonderful advocate for life. I feel the story has every bit to do with the struggle each and every one of us fight to get beyond daily. His story is beautiful, funny, PASSIONATE, and truthful of human nature. There is magic in love, and he proved this to me. I bought this book based on having met the author beforehand, but I recommend this book based on its merit alone.

Love Returns Through The Portal Of Time

`Love returns through the portal of time¿ was the most enjoyable story I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It is different and original from anything else. It is romantic from an all new perspective. The beginning had me wondering if it was some cult saga of the morally dire history of the Salem witch trials. But K S Michaels held my attention through the dregs of indignation. It was then the story picked up my spirit with Mike and Diane a cute couple. There is a great deal of character insight throughout the book. I enjoy learning just who the protagonists are. Though more sadness occurs with the tragic death of Diane the future of the continuum depends on such events. The validity of the journey is fortified further with the separate timelines in question. The plot is deep and, at times, overlooked. Like other books I have enjoyed reading, there are a great many hidden messages throughout the pages. And like a puzzle, all the pieces fall perfectly aligned bringing Mike and Miranda, the reincarnates of Jason and Ceenatanee, to the center of the circle of romantic magic. This story is a refreshing look at the possibilities of love in the most real and original form I have ever experienced. I come away from this novel of fiction wishing it were a true story for the sake of all those like myself, a closet romantic, desperate for a sign that true love can be found right around the corner. Few books have moved me as this one has. Accolades to the author for exploring newly found places in my heart. Thank you!

    Disappointing Story

I was fairly disappointed in this book. It was referred by some readers of some other great books I had read. I couldn't find it anywhere locally, so I ordered it online. I didn't feel the characters were as developed as they could have been. I also don't feel that the romance that was portrayed would have stood the test of time. ...Not too mention, there were quite a few misspellings and typos in this book. If you want a true love story, check out Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series. It's wonderful!

    A MUST READ!!!

After reading the Love Returns sequel, I just had to write this review for both books. I have to admit, I don't normally get so emotional over a story, but this one is intense, exciting, and heart wrenchingly beautiful. Michaels used a time line like craftsman's tool, weaving souls through his intricate plot with ease. How a reviewer could compare to twilight is beyond my scope. This is not a vampire story, but a love story spanning eternity via the knowledge of understanding one's destiny. Mike used his psychic powers to find his girl, his soul mate. The driving force that lead the two together had spanned lifetimes. His gift was so great Mike was able to plan his future, his next life, by leaving himself a time capsule for his next life, knowing he or Miranda would, eventually, find it, and then each other. Talk about devoted love. It sort of reminds me of the Harry Houdini story, only K S Michaels takes it about twenty steps further. He has garnered a cast of loving characters to carry out a journey most would have trouble wrapping their brain around. Fortunately, this wonderful author has managed to simplify an eternity of lifetimes into his Love Returns series. With each book the story escalates to a racing pace. I could not put this fantastic book down. I surely recommend reading this one. Michaels does not disappoint.

Love Returns Through The Portal Of Time

What a fanastic romance novel! Be prepared with a box of tissue for this one. This is an epic sleeper. I am so glad I found this book. It starts with the witch trials and quickly reveals the dream of the trials was in fact, a past life nightmare of one person's soul. Jason learns from his dreams that he has a destiny of love and adventure just waiting for him at every turn. The third and final timeline is Mike a precoscious funny guy who loves freely. After a dragic loss he struggles to redeem himself and his center. He meets a woman named Crystal who, obviously, loves him very much. But his delema and dreams is too much for him to understand. He too has dreams of his destiny, but cannot discern his path. Without giving away the most wonderful ending, you must read the rest on your own. You would not believe how exciting and how fast this book moves. I could not put this book down for a second. Through tragic paths of today's struggle and adventure to the magic of romance and love, Miranda and Mike find they are soul mates of an eternity of lifetimes.

Hugely enjoyable, different from anything else!

Love Returns Through The Portal Of Time is far from what I was expecting. Actually, I wasn't sure what to expect. The synopsis had be believeing there might be a large portion devoted to witch hunts and time travel. But the story takes place closer to present time 80's. The main character is a highschool guy named Mike who's having trouble with his home life, and subsequently drops out of school and leaves home after the tragic death of his girlfriend. Mikes grows up fast from that time on, meeting his soul mate, but not until he meets Crystal first. The story moves rather quickly with a lot of paranormal activity surrounding Mike and his soul mate, Miranda. Through several months of chance encounters with Miranda, Mike feels a deeper connection with her, but cannot understand where he knows her from. Several connections of friends and family come to an exciting summit after a time capsule is discovered exposing a past that was chilling and unsuspecting. The past was two other timelines, incarnates of Mike and Miranda setting the stage for the next life.

    AN AMAZING LOVE STORY!

I don't know which part to shout about first. I had no idea what a wonderful story this would be. This is my story if I were to wish what my life could be. I admit that I read this book about a year ago, but after reading Love's Eclipse of The Heart, the sequel to this book, I just had to write this review. This author has a magical way with introducing characters. This book goes deeper than the simple implications of the beliefs of reincarnation. The story not only implies the philosophy, but also builds a world of family and souls around facts and clever understanding. It makes me wonder if any of this story is actually true. Mike had prepared his life for the next life to a degree that seemed nothing less than plausible. Top that with love, romance, suspense, and a lot of unexpected turns, and you have yourself a highly recommended romance novel.

    Love This Book

K S Michaels is my new favorite author. I bought this book after I read the synopsis, and I wasn't disappointed. I love how K S takes you on Mike Shane's journey through life with him, through his tragedies starting with him losing his beloved Diane, to his mother's bizarre behavior towards him, all the way to his brother's untimely, unexpected suicide. This book is a definite must read with tons of twists and turns. Once you pick this book up you won't be able to put it down!!!

Amateurish. Obviously did not have an Editor as many typos, wrong words were used. Worst of all the story was very disjointed and overall storyline was boring. Other reviews must have been by family and friends.
