More About This Book

Overview

It is no act of love that Regan experiences the night she takes her sister's place in the marriage bed, a counterfeit bride to sate the lust of her twin's new husband. Come morning, her sister, carrying another man's child, resumes her place and Regan is spirited away to a nunnery.
But a more exotic fate awaits the fiery Celtic beauty: Regan is sold to a slave trader. It will be her destiny to come under the tutelage of Karim al Malina, master of the erotic arts, who will mold Regan -- now renamed Zaynab, the beautiful one -- into a Love Slave fit for a Moorish king, though the pair break the first rule of teacher and pupil . . . they fall in love.
But Zaynab is not Karim's to keep. She is given to the Caliph of Cordoba, who vows to love her . . . and pleasure her as no younger man can. Yet Regan still longs for her one true love, Karim al Malina, and vows that, somehow, their fates must be reunited . . . .

From the Trade Paperback edition.

From the classic Skye O'Malley series to Love, Remember Me, Bertrice Small's enchanting, exotic, and erotic tales have won her a multitude of fans. Her latest passionate adventure tells the tale of a fiery Celtic beauty and an Arabian master of erotic arts.

    Breathtaking!

I didn't want this book to end! Bertrice Small has definitely mastered the art of erotic writing, but even more than that, she has give her heroine strength, grace, superior intelligence and a magnificent spirit...something hard to maintain in a historical romance novel. The plot is mesmerizing, and each chapter is a true emotional rollercoaster, evoking feelings that are true to every woman's heart. This book will leave you wanting more...in EVERY sense of the word!

    Major dissapointment

I have to agree with the other reviewer. This is not a romance in the usual form. However I think what I dislike most about this book isn't as much the story line but the heroin. I believe the author was trying to convey how abused she was with the lack of love she received from her family and that she finds it in her instructor only to be torn from him. What a tragic story. This is what prompted me to read the book. However, the way it was written was very choppy and unconvincing. I couldn't finish because I really didn't feel the tragic in the story. Yes, there were some love scenes that were erotic. But I like a story to be convincing. It makes the love scenes more believable that way.

    I Also Recommend:

    Brilliant work.

This was one of the first romance books I read where I could get lost. Whether the highly detailed rated-R situations thrill you or not, the book is worth reading just for the storyline alone. It captures the time period, the beauty, and most of all it captures the time for what it was.
Some parts are a bit illogical; however, that's what a romance is, yes? It'd be no fun if we couldn't get lost in the past world of romance, daring times, and heartbreak.
Ms. Small has a certain finesse that similar authors can't grasp; that's my personal opinion of course. She highly researches her history before taking a go which is excellent and in good taste- I am quite finicky about how things get portrayed.

To shorten this up - it's classy, elegant, exciting, bold.. It heightens the senses. Definitely a keeper for the library.

    I Also Recommend:

    Highly Lacking

This book is many things, but romance, it is not. I don't see what can be romantic about a woman passed around from man to man, sexually used by every single one of them in some shape or form, seeming to easily accept her fate and really enjoy it and hardly have any contact at all with the 'hero' in the story but for five or six whole chapters in the book. At best, this book is erotica, and should not be classified under the romance genre. But even for that, the plot here is weak, the characters are one-dimensional, the 'perfection' of Zaynab is so unbelievable that it leaves her character being completely unrealistic and the language the author sometimes uses (especially in the sex scenes) is laughable and ridiculous. It'll be a long time before I even think of picking up a Bertrice Small book again.
