When she pulled out the key, he caught her hand in his. "Here, let me do that," he offered. The mere touch of his hand sent a warming shiver through her.  He unlocked the door and handed her back the key.

Valencia stared at him for a long minute. It had been ages since a man accompanied her home. She wasn’t sure what to do. From the intensity in Michael’s eyes, she knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to kiss her again. She remembered the feel of his lips interacting with hers. She wasn’t in control of that situation, but this was on her terms. She wasn’t about to let Michael kiss her good night.

"I better get inside," she said after a long breath, crossing the threshold into the foyer.
"You never answered my question," he reminded her, not ready to let her end the night.
Valencia turned to face him. "Which one?"
"Will you have dinner with me?"
She angled her head to the side. "Can I call you?"

He gave her a gentle smile. "All right, we’ll do it your way." Michael reached in his back pocket, pulled out his wallet, took out a piece of paper, and wrote his number on it. "Don’t just take my number and not use it. If I don’t hear from you, Valencia Hill, I will show up at your place of business." Michael grinned, boldly taking Valencia’s hand in his. "Good night."

Without another word, he turned and strolled away. He opened the car door, sliding behind the wheel. Before he started the engine, he looked back at the house. She had gotten to him. No woman had ever done that.

Reviewed by Tori Pearson - Literary Wonders!

Tender hearts beware!! Ms. Sammie Ward's 'Love to Behold', is a heart-thumping, whirlwind love story! Valencia Hill is young, single, vibrant, beautiful, and a successful entrepreneur. Valencia is a top-notch bridal consultant and the owner of New Beginnings, a bridal consulting firm. She has planned weddings for many well-known, affluent people from politicians to star athletes. And to top it all off: Valencia absolutely loves what she does. She couldn't be happier. Or could she? She is content with planning other people's weddings. Or is she? Cornered into attending a gala thrown by Autumn, one of her clients, Valencia prepares for the event with many reservations about the evening and attends reluctantly. Autumn's soon-to-be husband is Andre Bowman, professional baseball player for the Baltimore Orioles. Valencia almost immediately crosses paths with Michael Gomez, Andre's teammate, and minutes later is surprisingly introduced as Michael's girlfriend. Continuing the charade throughout the gala, Valencia secretly relishes the attention she is receiving from this incredibly handsome man, yet hesitation bubbles up when he asks her to call him. Fortunately, Michael is persistent, and Valencia relents. Despite the undeniable attraction, Valencia judges Michael to be a player based on the lone fact that he is a professional athlete. Even though Valencia blames her hesistancy on the notion that Michael is a ladies' man, she fails to tell Michael that she is afraid to get her heartbroken as she had so cruelly once before. And Michael has his own unresolved issues (read: females) to deal with that just might prove Valencia's point. Will Valencia let Michael into her heart and put her past behind her? Will Michael tell Valencia the truth and prove his love for her? 'Love to Behold' by Ms. Sammie Ward is romance in a tidy, little package and a reminder (for those of us who need it) that sometimes it's alright to let your heart take its chances.

Cute story, a bit rushed in a total of 196 pages. I wish I could have spent more time reading about the life Valencia and Michael had after they got married instead of the few pages of description in the end. I don't know why romance novels end when the couple finally gets together. Much more determination and love is needed to make the relationship last. Just a thought.....

    Love To Behold

Valencia Hill fell in love and was about to commit her life to Malcolm until he stood her up at the altar. Against her parents' blessing, she quit her high profile accountant position to start her own bridal consultant firm and spends all of her time arranging weddings for the elite in and around the Washington, D.C. area. Autumn was a high profile client who invited Valencia to the gala event of the year. That is where Valencia and Michael met. Michael would spend the rest of the season hitting home runs and teaching Valencia the game of baseball and love. 'Love To Behold' was a touching and engaging short stories in a collection. 'What Are Girlfriends For?' ended with my mouth hanging open. 'In The Name Of Love' was a classic tale of pride getting in the way of romance. While 'Seven Days' is a tale of love after a one-night stand. Hopefully, Ms. Ward will will grace us with a full novel from one of these short stories soon. M.Bruner, Reviewer, Affaire de Coeur

    Love To Behold

What happens when a strong-willed wedding planner meets a determined Baseball player, who knows what he wants. In Love To Behold, Ms. Sammie Ward spins a delightfully enchanted love story I had a hard time putting down. Well done.

    Nickie-Love To Behold-Great Novella

I just want to say that I really love, Love To Behold. This novella was excellent. I was blown away. Especially reading, the bonus short story, What Are Girlfriends For? The novella itself and short story was well written and captivating! I hated for it to end. I can't wait to read more from this author and looking forward to the release of her next novel.
