Once again Mr. Winston not only doesn't disappoint, he far exceeds expectations. This new album is as cool as it gets. While the cues themselves are familiar, it's the Winston spin that makes this a most enjoyable experience. I'm a big Winston fan, so you'll have to take my prejudices into account. But I am confident that if you like the music of Vince Guaraldi, especially as it pertains to the Peanuts specials, you'll be glad you purchased this. This special edition from B & N has a bonus track not available anywhere else. It's a highly stylised version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Very highly recommended. It's Winston as always, again taking on Vince Guaraldi's music in his own distinctive, lyrical fashion. The songs compose a variety of Peanuts and non-Peanuts pieces. The non-Peanuts bits will likely be familiar to Guaraldi fans; the Peanuts pieces include some from other Guaraldi- and Guaraldi-themed CDs, some which will be recognizable even to relatively casual Peanuts viewers, and some of which will require watching some of the less-well-known specials. If you've been to any George Winston concerts recently, you may have heard some of the songs here; I've heard four such over two concerts, myself. The CD is well worthwhile in my opinion -- my favorite track is Little Birdie.
Last, I would be remiss if I didn't note that, since it's a Winston album, the liner notes are characteristically excellent (one great touch: every Peanuts theme includes a list of the specials in which it occurred).
