The book has beautiful watercolor illustrations and many children can relate to this little girl who wants to win the talent show but has a hard time coming up with a talent to showcase. It is an endearing story with a message relevant to today's youth and to parents alike. Helping a friend is all the reward you need to feel good inside. I loved that the father told his daughter that of all of her talents he loved her heart most of all. This is a reminder to us as parents to remind our children that kindness, compassion, and empathy are talents to. Not all talents are as easily measured or recognized as singing and dancing (or teaching a dog to juggle).

I recently say down to read "Love Your Heart" written by Tim McGraw & Thomas Douglas. I have to say the most appealing thing about this book was the illustrations by Abigail Marble. This is probably some of the best illustrating I have seen in a children's book.
The story is sweet, but scattered. The father expresses his love for his daughter who basically has a heart of gold. It wasn't exactly an easy-to-follow story. I read it to my 6 year old daughter, who didn't seem interested. I also had my 13 year old daughter read it. My 13 year old daughter told me she enjoyed the book, and has picked it up several times since. She seemed to like the various colorful and curvy print throughout, the moral, and the illustrations.
Now for my opinion. I REALLY wanted to like this book because... well, it had Tim McGraw's name on it. The curiosity was killing me, so I was so happy when the book arrived. My favorite features of this book were the large size, and the raised letters on the bold and beautifully illustrated cover. I found the story to be sort of choppy and hard to read full sentences without pausing slightly. Some sentences were long and completed on a single line, while others were short and broke up on two lines. At least that's how it seemed while I was reading it. The print changes to various sizes and colors. Sometimes it fit, and sometimes it didn't.
Overall, I have to say that the book is different. Would I purchase a future book written by Tim McGaw & Tom Douglas? Probably not. My daughter enjoyed it, so maybe yours would too. If you haven't read a book by these authors before, I recommend checking it out. It has its own appeal.

In this story, you'll find the main character Katie, attempting to figure out what particular skill that she has and should preform off at her schools talent show. I love despite all her hard work and brain storming back and forth with her father, that in seeing a particular friend of her own unable to perform after an accident, she selflessly gives up her own act to help her friend out. Love Your Heart is perfect in illustrating a child's selfless act of kindness towards another.
I personally loved this book and found it to be very heart warming and sweet from the forward written by Faith Hill to the last page of this story. I also think that little girls would would really enjoy this book if read by their own fathers since a dad is featured in this story. I would recommend this book for all the little girls in your life up to age ten. I know I will be looking for more titles in the My Little Girl series for my own daughter.

This is a children's story, aimed mostly towards young girls. The illustrations in the hard cover book, which are done by Abigail Marble are just beautiful and almost make it worth buying even without the storyline.
This is apparently the second book in the series, I have never read the first. The book is only about 30 pages long and is not a chapter book, so definately geared towards a younger audience, but for your little princess, this book is perfect.
The main character of this story is a young girl named Katie. She wakes up one morning and announces that she needs to choose a talent for her school's talent show. She discusses her many talents with her father and her pet dog Palio. She then decides on a great one that she can do with Palio on the stage as well.
But the night of the talent show arrives and Katie's friend Sophie needs some help. Katie generously makes a sacrifice to help Sophie win the talent show instead of herself. She later asks her dad if he is disappointed in her and he replies that even though he loves all her talents, he loves her heart the best and that he is very proud of her decision.

This is a book about a little girl who is trying to decide what she should do for the upcoming talent show. In the end, the girl chooses to make a sacrifice to help a friend and her father tells her that of all her many talents and abilities, he loves her heart most of all. It's a sweet book with pretty pictures and a positive message. It isn't the Velveteen Rabbit by a long stretch, but it's a good book all the same. The forty-year-old reading the book struggled a little with the logic flow of the story, but the six-year-old who was more likely a member of the target reading audience than her mother didn't seem to see the same problems. I guess this would be one of those instances where my husband would need to remind me, "It's just a book/movie/TV show/Geico commercial. It's supposed to be fun." From that perspective, I enjoyed the satisfaction my daughter received from the book. I like that the book features a strong father who loves and is supportive of his daughter. My daughter is blessed to have a dad like that in her life and I like to find books that portray men as strong and loving.

This is the second book in a children's series by the famous country singer. This story is about a little girl named Katie who cannot decide on what talent to perform at her school's talent show. She shows her different talents to her dad with humorous results. When the time comes for the talent show, Katie finds a unselfish way to show off her talent at being a caring friend.
I enjoyed reading this book. I tried to read it with my daughter but she is only 18 months and did not sit to read it with me. I thought the story was very sweet and I liked how it taught such a positive message about friendship and giving unselfishly to others. Katie was a very realistic and like able character. I really enjoyed her interactions with her dog and the silly messes she created. I think all parents can relate to how fast children can accidentally make a big mess. The illustrations were beautiful and eye catching.
My only critique of the story was that it was a bit cheesy at times. It was very sweet how much love was displayed between Katie and her dad but it sounded a little fake at times. I also found the text size and font printed in the book to be somewhat distracting. The words would change size and I found it slightly odd.

Being a fan of country music AND Tim McGraw, I was quite pleased when BookSneeze offered this book for review. One of my favorite songs by Tim McGraw is his song entitled "My Little Girl", of which I first heard when he played in the movie, Flicka, and is also the title of this children's book series, My Little Girl.
Love Your Heart is book 2 in this wonderful children's series and I highly enjoyed it(I'm a mom and grandma but I'm a big kid at heart!). Tim expresses through words on a page for children the love that is in HIS heart, the same way he expresses it through music. He has daughters of his own and you can see the love for them through this beautiful story. This book is perfect for every little girl out there, but I also think that it would be a wonderful tradition for every little girl out there to start with her daddy...reading this wonderfully written new children's series by Tim, together.

I have to say I really enjoyed this book! It is about a little girl who is talking with her father about what she should do as her talent in the talent show coming up. She goes through all the things she can think of that would be good, some she don't even know how to do. She decided to pick one for the talent show and on the day of the show, her friend needs her. She decides to not do her talent and help her friend reach a record with her talent instead.
Beautifully written and illustrated! I read this at first and then read it to my daughter. It was fun to laugh along with and to see how little minds think. It makes you think about you and the way you parent, are you like the father in the book? Would your child be willing to give up their talent and the chance of winning prizes to help out a friend? I really liked this and am going to be looking for the other book written by these two men, My Little Girl.
I honestly thought I wasn't going to like it, but I gave it a try. Usually when you have movie stars or musicians who write or should I say "try to write" the book doesn't turn out well at all. Big thumbs up to Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas. I also want to mention Abigail Marble who did a great job at the illustrations!

The children's book, "Love Your Heart" was written by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas; illustrated by Abigail Marble. The wonderful story is about a girl named Katie and her daddy. Even through Katies obstacles doing different things for the talent show. She shines with the love of her father. Because Katies caring and wonderful heart, I can feel the story come to life. It's the meanning of love and how a parent truly cares about their child. I would recommmend this book because it entertained me as well to children ages 6-8. It's a great book because a child can learn right from wrong and what caring is all about.

I recently read "Love Your Heart" by Tim McGraw (yes, the country singer!), writer Tom Douglas, and illustrated by Abigail Marble. I would recommend this book is a must-read for father's to read to their 3-7 year old daughters. Katie's charming personality resonated with me; she's a girl everyone could learn a lesson about positivity from, and the father is quite an example of what a father should be too.
This book explores Katie's journey for the perfect talent for her upcoming talent show. Now I won't spoil the surprise, but Katie will win your heart with her actions.
My favorite part? When the father (who looks and acts a lot like Tim McGraw...) tells Katie to ask God what she should do. I am so excited to have God back in children's books!
The illustrations alone kept my nearly-3-year-old daughter captivated. I would recommend this as a special gift for any rambunctious little girl.

What a precious book! When I saw this book on the Thomas Nelson's website, I thought what a precious gift for my own girls.
I was not disappointed. The little girl Katie, who is full of life, has a choice to make, what is she going to do in her school talent show. Her Daddy gives wise counsel to ask God what He thinks she should do. She ends up giving up something important to her - to bless someone else.
The colors in the book were very feminine. This book would certainly look pretty in a "Princess" room. My favorite picture is on the back cover, where the little girl is singing in her hairbrush. What girl (or lady) hasn't sang into a hairbrush?
This story is so delightful! I love to see stories about a Daddy and a daughter that display a sweet relationship. Daughters need to know that they are loved unconditionally by their Father, this book would be an excellent gift from a Dad to a daughter, no matter what the age.

With bright and beautiful illustrations and font that catches the eyes and brings the pages to life, this children's book will easily finds it's way into the hands and hearts of the young and old alike.
Young Katie is excited about her school talent show! But she has one dilemma, which talent to choose? She has so many! With loving advice from her dad and help from her dog, Palio, she finally has a one-of-a-kind performance picked out! However when the night of the show arrives Katie finds her friend backstage crying. Katie quickly comes up with a plan, and what happens that night becomes a selfless act of kindness.
Amusing and realistic, children will learn valuable lessons about unique, individual talents, kindness, love and beauty that is on the inside!
