This book had all the perks of the typical. It's bascially about these two people who meet in the wrong circumstances, they love each other but both let their strong pride rule them. Honestly, the main story line was exactly what is in every romance novel. The writing was good though with it's effect on detail, also I found a certain tenderness in the love scenes that was quite touching. Reading this novel falls so close to real life and so less toward the fairly tale like trance of other novels that I often found myself passionately screaming at the heroine. The author also captured the feel of the time very well, I found myself complementarily comparing the author's level of historical detail to that of Bertrice Small, a very favorite author of mine. After reading the book I felt very satisfied with it. My only desire - which I'm begining to feel might be a lost cause- is to see an author, brave enough to write about love in it's truest form, with real heroines, with real lives, whose lives don't run along the lines of bored predictability. Make it spicy Y'all. And make it Historical. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
