Overview

Widow Bev Miller promised to keep her chin up and trust in God after her husband's untimely death. She had her boisterous children to nurture through this transitional time. When she encountered handsome businessman Dale Levin, she began to wonder about the possibilities. Could love strike her a second time?

While caring for his aging parents, Dale witnessed a true marriage and didn't feel such a powerful force could ever exist for him. Love was an old-fashioned romantic notion that faded over time. But then Bev and her kids crept into his routine...and into his heart. Would God prove his long-held beliefs wrong and grant him the happy ending he craved?

I think that Martin did an incredible job on writing a very heartwarming book.It kept me turning the page and i couldn't put the book down. The realness in the story is what interested me.MArtin didn't make her characters fake and that made the story more realistic. This is one of my favorite books and if you like anything having to do with romance and warm feelings when you read then this is the book for you!!!

Gail Gaymer Martin tackles tough issues head on in Loving Promises. Dale almost runs down a little boy with his car. Bev takes exception to Dale¿s angry scolding. Bev can see that, although Dale is a good man, he doesn¿t know much about children. To Bev, that means Dale¿s got no place in her life. Dale really likes Bev, but he¿s dealing with the emotional turmoil of watching his mother fail from a disease. He is angry with God for not answering the prayers Dale sent him so fervently. Dale is interested in Bev, but he doesn¿t have the time or energy for a relationship. Bev, a widow, didn¿t choose well for her first husband. She doesn¿t trust emotion or attraction. A woman of faith, she¿s never considered another man. If she does take a chance on a relationship, it will be based on shared values, not feelings. Martin doesn¿t pretty up Dale¿s relationship with his ailing mother and exhausted father. She doesn¿t skim over Dale¿s discomfort with children. There is no overnight epiphany that changes everything. In Loving Promises, the first book in a series that takes place in Loving, Michigan, Martin¿s characters grow through their pain in an honest, human way, with the kind of missteps and side trips that are part of the human condition as they search for true love.
