A great, practical guideline for the whole family to deal with OCD

This is a really great book for both OCD sufferers, and their family members and friends to read. Specifically geared towards family members of people with OCD, it provides clear, user-friendly explanations of OCD, describes how family members are affected by-- and affect-- their loved one's symptoms, and gives step-by-step guidelines for a plan to tackle OCD together. It is not terribly long and very easy-to-read, and includes questions and checklists throughout the book to help readers sort through their thoughts and experiences regarding their loved one's disease.

A life saver for understanding a very disruptive lifestyle

Our household has been in a turmoil for the past 2 years with my 22 year old stepson's obsessive behavior getting worse and worse. The book clearly identified the behavior I was witnessing in our home and explained what was going on mentally and behaviorally in layman's terms. When the person with the problem is not "your" child and is an adult living in your home it can limit your options to intervene and cause a barrier to form between you and the protective parent. This book gave me a clear understanding of what we were dealing with and how to handle the person with OCD. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who loves someone who seems to be obsessively repeating strange behavior over and over again. The book is very well written in language that is extremely easy to understand and apply.
