Well organized and written simply and in a straight-forward style, this book was an absolute pleasure for me to read - in one day. Dr. Thompson is a cardiologist and shares his own "journey" through his personal diagnosis with this condition - and he substantiates his personal experience and recommendations with solid references.
Recently diagnosed with type-2 diabetes, I have been following a low-starch diet with tremendous success for the last nine months and I was able to supplement my knowledge with this book that explains complicated concepts in easy to understand language that I had a hard time finding in other books. The physical consequences of insulin resistance and understanding - step-by-step - the ways in which your blood sugar, blood pressure, levels of HDL and LDL cholesterol levels, can be manipulated by using nutrition, medication and exercise to live well and in control of diabetes.
This book will be with me a long time. It is simply the best book that I have found on Diabetes 2. Thank you, Dr. Thompson for writing it.

This book lets you in on many reasons why and how things happen in your body when you have Type 2 diabetes. For those of us watching carbs, low-starch is about the same thing, but I still am an individual that likes to know why. At the back of the book are several recipes - of which I plan to try a few as they look pretty yummy.
