Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders is a military thriller in which the main character, Mollie Sanders, travels abroad while testing military equipment and fighting terrorists. Originally written as two screenplays, Phyllis Zimbler Miller and Mitchell R. Miller adapted them into a novel.
Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders is a bad#$%, the only description that does her justice. The novel is written as two stories wrapped into one. In the first half, Mollie is assigned as a backseat pilot (sorry, not much for military terms!) on an aircraft carrier in the United States Navy.
In the second half, Mollie is assigned to a submarine to test top of the line military technology designed by Mollie herself.
Mollie's bullheaded nature combined with ingenuity allows her to discover a plot that isn't what it first seems. She fights her way through a male-dominated world of submariners to eventually gain friends and join her in her hunt.
The elements I enjoyed.
The story was fast-paced and packed with excitement from beginning to end. Mollie is a firecracker and her actions leave most she meets in awe.
The details about the military and the submarine were great. It's obvious the Miller's have experience in such areas. Both halves leave the reader wanting to learn what happens next. The characters throw quips at each other throughout and gave me a laugh here and there as well.
Aspects on the bottom of my list.
In the first half, the high action scenes ended too abruptly. There would be a grand build up to a scene, only to be told how it ended in a few paragraphs rather than be shown. The second half was much better in this aspect.
While grammatically correct, changing a few things would blow the reader away. The first is the word "suddenly". Removing the word while keeping the rest of the sentence the same makes the story stronger in most instances. I kept track during the second half and it was used eight to ten times. Not a huge amount, but after awhile, it brought me away from the story.
The whole "show instead of tell" idea came to mind throughout. There are situations where telling is needed, like when describing the submarine for example. However, I felt the actions scenes in both halves could have used more showing.
If each half was broken into an individual story and included more showing, I can't see how anybody would give it less than four stars.

By Phyllis Zimbler Miller and Mitchell R. Miller
Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders is a graduate of United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, Mollie is an electronics and computer geek, and driven to excel in everything she does to prove herself in a male dominated navy.
Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders receives assignment to sea duty as the second seat, fire control, in an F-18. While on what should be a routine training mission, Mollie and the pilot are fired upon by a mysterious missile that was not part of the training flight, thus begins a conundrum for Mollie and her pilot Kevin, nickname Surfer.
Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders is an engaging read for people that like the adventure/mystery genre. Phyllis and Mitchell weave a tail that brings intrigue and characters that will keep you reading for hours, because you won’t want to put down this book, that’s what happen to this reader.
Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders a well-written book, that should hold the interest of any reader to see what happens next, and if the ice maiden will thaw, and become a normal person. You’ll have to read the book to find out the rest of the story and where the missile might have come from.

Molly Sanders is a very enjoyable book. I recommend it for women looking for a story with a strong female lead character and not a lot of violence. It's fun and enjoyable reading.
