Overview

“The sensation of falling was terrifying…we tumbled out of the realm of the heavenly light into perpetual darkness. We had not seen darkness before--not like this anyway...   A strange man shows up at the office of language expert Samantha Yale with a mysterious scroll written in an even more mysterious language. As she begins to translate, she discovers an eyewitness account of the war in heaven from an angel who sided with Lucifer and then deeply regretted his decision. The tale is hard to believe... but impossible to ignore.

Linda Rios Brook brings new depth of imagery into the spirit world and scholarship to the old debate, “What happened to the world between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2?” Part intriguing theological exploration, part swashbuckling adventure, Lucifer’s Flood presents an equally fascinating and frightening tale of prehistoric heaven and Earth.

A Must Read - WARNING, you will be hooked on this series.

I sent the author an e-mail and told her to write faster. I could not understand why the main character/narrator "feelings" affected me so much only to realize...He is me.

The writing is phenomenal. Clear, crisp, no waste of words. Linda pulls you in and you cannot escape the story nor will you want to. You will cheer, fume, fuss, - - - become a part of the story instead of just being an observer. The little fallen angel will win your heart and his realizations are convicting in one's own walk in Christ.

Those that do not know the creation story, Linda makes it easy to comprehend. She also beautifully adds to the argument that the big bang theory and creationism are NOT adversaries but one in the same.

Linda's writing is more like watching a movie rather than reading a book. You will not be able to put this book down weather you are a Christian or not. Lots of food for thought.

    Awful

I was very excited to read this book since the concept was so intriguing and I was in the mood for something different. I was very quickly disappointed for many reasons. Mostly I was turned off due to the theologically innacuracy throughout the book. Her ideas of the temptation and subsequent fall of man are so backwards that I wonder if she reads the same bible I do. On top of that there are so many overtired cliches like, yawn, blaming everything on that darned `free will¿ that I was easily bored and was left desiring a book with an original idea. I understand that this book may be read by people who are not christian, and the author may have no intentions of writing a theologically sound book, but I would still warn readers that the thoughts and concepts are inconsistent with each other and appear thrown together without much consideration. This book is not worthy of toilet reading. I would suggest you only buy this book if you like to laugh at the garbage that some publishers are putting out nowadays. Three thumbs down. The only reason this book has one star is because the book was so short and used such large print and wide margins that I wasnt tortured for too long. Ugh.

    Re-telling of Bible Events

The title of the book was what first caught my attention; reading the details and I was hooked. I read the first one hundred and thirty pages and was sorely disappointed. The book is merely a re-telling of biblical events, having read the entire bible on several different occasions the book did not offer any stimulus for brain activity. I have bibles to read when I want to know about biblical events. Now I want a refund.

    New view on Genesis!!

Lucifer's Flood was an eye opening look at the Book of Genesis!! Mrs. Brook has an amazing way of making the real people in the bible become more human, and not biblical superheores, just men and women that were chosen by God. From the fall of Satan, till the 2nd book, "The Deliever" it is a constant page turner!! I love the book! I gave me ample things to think about in my life how I saw God, creation, and espically how much He Loves Us, and how much He does for us b/c of that love.

I sudjest it for anyone interstead in "witnessing" to their friends and loved ones that have questions about "creation", or why things are the way they are in this world! It's a great book, but don't believe me... go pick one up for yourself!!!

    Really Good!

I loved the fact that this book explains facts in the Bible in simple, exciting language with all the drama added. It's very easy to read and understand. Is there a third book? I just finished the second and I love it!

Wonderful Writing that Fans Will Love!!

Review brought to you by OBS staff member Annabell

    Beware of spoilers

Lucifer’s Flood is the story of Satan’s rebellion against God’s creation of humanity, his battle with Heaven, and what happened when he was thrown from God’s realm. The story is told from the view point of one of the lower angels who didn’t exactly choose to follow Lucifer but was so panicked by the war he ended up getting cast out in a case of misunderstanding.

The writing is absolutely wonderful in this book. It is clear, descriptive, and to the point. The fluidity of the scenes and events that led up to Satan’s banishment as well as what happened after he fell from grace, seamlessly fit together. The pacing is right on point, catching your curiosity and moving quickly to heighten the suspense.

The lower angel who accidently fell from grace will win your heart. He is very nonchalant about his fate but also very determined to tell the truth. He manages to make the devil sympathetic in some ways and relatable. I also sympathized with the little fallen angel for his plight.

The story moves from Lucifer’s relationship with God to the Creation of Earth followed by the creation of Adam and Eve and into the birth of Moses then God choosing Noah to build the ark before drowning the world in water. The author manages to touch such scared and deeply respected stories with beauty and ease which helps the reader feel free to make his or her own decisions about how they feel of the author’s interpretation without feeling overwhelming preachy.

Lucifer’s Flood is a very interesting and thought provoking take on Lucifer, Heaven, and Creation. You will laugh, feel for the characters, and be hooked to the mystery of Lucifer’s decisions and God’s reactions.

I loved this book! And I am looking forward to reading the next installment, The Deliverer, as soon as I can!!

Definitely a book fans of the supernatural genre will really enjoy (whether Christian or not)!

    Must read

This is a great adult series based on The Bible. The author does an amazing job of portraying the stories through the eyes of a demon watcher. The demon's analysis of the Bible figures and events are not only humorous but insightful. The reader gets drawn into the action and emotions of the demon and begins to care and cheer for him as he is pulled between his love of God, fear of Satan, and confusion of humans. It isn't often a Christian writer is able to draw the reader into such a familiar story and convey it from a new angle without taking away from the true meaning of The Bible.

VERY Interesting! A look at what happened BEFORE Genesis 1!

Linda Rios Brook is brilliant, and brings to life a whole new perspective to the "behind the scenes" of The Old Testament, while staying true to scripture. Lucifer's Flood is a great read, very interesting, funny, and thought provoking. I couldn't put it down! You will grow to love the little fallen angel, who is telling the story, probably because his struggles and thoughts are similar to our own. The entire Reluctant Demon series is great, and I would recommend them ALL! Wonderful Christian Fiction!

    A pretty good read.

This book is a good book to read if you're interested in the scriptures. To be honest, I don't really like the author's writing style. She is writing from a demon's perspective, but she seems to be afraid to dive into the sadistic mind of a demon. She tries to make this demon sound like he's secretly a "good guy" but he works for the devil because he's scared of him. Not a bad concept, but she plays it out poorly.

The story is good. It's an interesting point of view to look at the scriptures from. I give it 4 stars because I am very interested in scripture and it is a new perspective on it.

p.s. She seems to hold grudges against men in her stories. She blames Adam for Eve's sin, and says that women's sins are the fault of their husbands because they are the Lords over them, and yet she still defends that women should be treated equally. If you're a guy, this book might anger you in some chapters. She tries to make women equal AND blame men for their sins! YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH!
