Lucky Day: An I Hunt Killers Novellaby Barry Lyga

This is the story of the small town sheriff who captured one of the world's most ruthless and cunning murderers. A prequel to the New York Times bestselling thriller, I Hunt Killers.
It all started with Dead Girl #1 and Dead Girl #2, the first killings in the sleepy town of Lobo's Nod in decades. Two murders: just a coincidence, or something more sinister? One thing's for sure--it was definitely inconvenient in a year when Sheriff G. William Tanner, a mourning widower, had to run for reelection.
With a trail gone cold, it's only luck that links the murders to the most notorious serial killer in memory. And in a town like Lobo's Nod, the killer must be someone Tanner already knows....

Its been a while since I've found a book that keeps me interested. Well worth the read.
GOOD SHORT STORY. If you have read any of the "I Hunt Killers" series, this is a good backstory addition. This is the story of how Sherrif G. William caught the famous Billy Dent. It is not a "necessary" read for this series, but I did enjoy this particular back story. I tried a couple of the shorts that accompany this series, and was not quite as impressed. This one, however, I did enjoy. I will say that it is not as gripping or nerve racking as the full-length stories of the series, but it did answer a few questions I had. Thanx Mr. Lyga for this backstory. Can't wait for "Blood of My Blood" the last book in this trilogy. -- SPeeD
It was good to read and learn more about the characters in the I Hunt Killers series while waiting on the next book.
Pointless 2.5 Stars Every once in a while, you read a story that makes you wonder what the point was when it is over. This story was not bad but it was not good either. It was in a word....pointless. To be honest, I am feeling a little sad about this. I have read the first two books in this series and was looking forward to reading about how G. William was able to catch Jazz's dad, Billy Dent. Let me warn you now....there is not a lot of detective work going on in this novella. This novella instead focuses on G. William's personal struggles more than the mystery. This story was not at all what I have come to expect from Barry Lyga. The psychological aspect was absent in piece. I have really grown to like the characters in this series but after reading this story, I think I actually like G. William a little less. I really can not recommend this novella to anyone except maybe the most die hard Jasper Dent fan. I do plan to read future works from Barry Lyga, but I think I will most likely skip the novellas and focus on his books.
